'Academia del Perpetuo Socorro ("Academy of Our Lady of Perpetual Help") was founded in 1921 as a Catholic parochial school pertaining to the Perpetuo Socorro Parish at the Archidiocese of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The school is located in Miramar, a suburb of San Juan. The current principal is Sister Armand Marie Ayala SSND. ' Academia del Perpetuo Socorro is one of the most prestigious and recognized academic institutions on the island and has educated many of the most influential and outstanding leaders of Puerto Rico.

Students, teachers and alumni commonly refer to their school as Perpetuo or APS.

It is considered a college prep school, since 100% of graduates go on to pursue college degrees. Around 50-70% of them study outside of the island, mainly in the continental United States. Many of them attend top-ranked colleges and universities. Perpetuo graduates frequently attend prestigious universities, such as: Princeton University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Georgetown University, Harvard College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, Loyola University New Orleans and Yale University.

Perpetuo's main fame comes from its strong academic programs in history and english. ' Although it provides a wide variety of athletic teams for its students, Perpetuo has much stronger academic teams, specifically its Math, Model UN, Forensics, School Choir, Drama Club and History teams.

Recent victories achived by the school during the current school year (2005-2006) include wining 5 out of 8 categories during the Intercolegial League of History and Geography's annual competition thus achieving 1st place, another victory was achieved at the Regional Archidiocesan Science Fair during which the school won 1st overall place and managed to send 2 students to the Intel ISEF Science Fair to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

School's Mission

The goal of the educational apostolate at Academia del Perpetuo Socorro is the total development of the student - spiritually, mentally, morally, socially, culturally, and physically in order to live a full life and to prepare for his/her final goal - union with God. To this end, we work to create a Catholic academic community in which faith, knowledge, and recreation are shared in a spirit of freedom, love, and creativity. '

School Motto

"Esto Perpetua" translated as "Be everlasting" stressing how the values and learning learned in this school are to be infused with individuals and society as eternal values. Some consider this motto as a reference to how the school's positive influence shall last for eternity.
