- Red means the team was eliminated.
- Blue means the team was the last to arrive at a pit stop in a non-elimination leg of the race. This means that the team was not eliminated. The penalty on a non-elimination leg is that teams are forced to give up all their money and belongings, will not receive any money at the beginning of the next leg and are not allowed to collect any money until the leg actually begins for the team.
- Green means the team won the Fast Forward clue.
- A yellow > means that team chose to use the Yield; < indicates the team who received it.
- *Leg 3 was double-length, with two Detours and two Roadblocks, shown over two episodes
- + Ray & Yolanda had arrived 2nd, but they were assessed a 15 minute penalty for taking a bus instead of a train all the way to the Isthmos Train Station. BJ & Tyler were also assessed the same 15 minute penalty, but it did not affect their placement. Lake & Michelle should have also received the same penalty, but as it didn't affect their placement as last, it was not assessed.
Trivia
- The first leg's pit stop was inside Estádio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho, but teams began the second leg outside the stadium.
- The second leg's pit stop lasted an extended 36 hours.
- The third leg is double-length, broadcast over episodes 3 and 4. This is the earliest a double leg has appeared and was the first to include international travel over the middle portion.
- When BJ and Tyler offered Phil a dollar in Moscow, they told him "don't waste that opportunity." This was likely a reference to Phil's Discovery Channel show and book, No Opportunity Wasted
- As in season 7, the second part of Leg 3 had a task which involved finding a Travelocity roaming gnome; However for this season, there appeared to be no potential reward for carrying it to the Pit Stop, though teams were specifically instructed to do so.
- On Leg 4, Danielle & Dani became the first team to be both Yielded and eliminated in the same leg of the race.
- In an interview, Danielle & Dani said that the Yield was about 30 minutes long and they arrived at the Pit Stop only a few minutes after Ray and Yolanda.
- On Leg 4, BJ and Tyler wore "Bowling Mom" t-shirts, in homage to Linda and Karen in Season 5.
- On Leg 7, Fran & Barry became the oldest couple at the age of 61 & 63 to win a leg, beating out Teri & Ian who were 49 & 50 respectively in Season 3.

The Roadblock from the second half of the leg required one racer to find a Travelocity gnome hidden under giant gnome hats and feet in a field for their next clue.
