Veemon
Template:Infobox Digimon Veemon (spelled V-mon in the Japanese Version) is a fictional character, a Digimon from the Digimon 02 series. he is Davis Motomiya's partner. Both he and Davis are alike in several ways, especially tempers. Sealed away since ancient times, this small dragon is one of the ancient Digimon that are able to Armor Digivolve. His high athletic skills make him great for hand-to-hand combat.
He was voiced by Noda Junko (Japan) and Derek Stephen Prince (North America).
Description
Veemon is a 2-feet tall humanoid lizard-like creature[1]. His skin is mostly blue, with a white belly and mouth. Veemon's head is large and roughly sperical, with two conical fleshy appendages attached to the back of it, possibly ears. A small horn pokes where his nose would be. Veemon has large, 5-fingered hands, with short white clawed, as well as 3-toed feet with stout claws. The yellow V-shaped mark between his large, pinkish eyes is probably a reference to his name. Veemon has the reputation to bring good luck.
In the English dub, Veemon speaks with a slight lisp, although this is mostly evident in how he pronounces his partner's name as "Davish". Of all the 01 and 02 Digimon, he was the one with the most affinities for hand-to-hand combat, both due to his attacks and personality. He was also the only one to demonstrate a persistent romantic interest (in Gatomon).
Attacks
Veemon's usual attack in the anime is either his Vee-Headbutt or Vee-Knockout. With the exception of Vee-Punch, other attacks are found in video games. Additionally, In the Digimon World 4 game, Veemon could use the Light Bringer longsword as his weapon.
- Vee-Headbutt (V-mon Head): Charges and headbutts opponents with tremendous force.
- Vee-Knockout (V-mon Whack): Veemon punches forward with such strength that it carries him forward a little.
- Vee-Punch (Boom-Boom Punch): Twirls his fists round in circles and runs at enemies.
- Hopping Kick - Leaps up and kicks at his opponent.
- Arm Spin - Spins his arm and punches.

Appearances
Digimon Adventure 02
Veemon was among three digimon of ancient time sealed by the Sovereign Azulongmon in case of a crisis. When Davis lifted the Digiegg of Courage, Veemon was freed from suspended animation. He quickly evolved to Flamedramon to destroy the ring controlling a Monochromon that attacked the group. Veemon remained in the Digital World that day, but would subsequently return to the Real World each time his partner did. During most of the series, Veemon will revert to his in-training form of DemiVeemon when travelling to the Real World. In mistakenly attempting to cheer Davis, Veemon was later badly beaten by the same RedVeggiemon that had tortured Gabumon.
Veemon accompanied Davis on all his subsequent clashes with the Digimon Emperor, who would attempt to control and use him to humiliate Davis. Using the Digi-eggs of friendship and Miracles, he first digivolved to Raidramon during the fight against the controlled Agumon (in his MetalGreymon form at the time), and to Magnamon to fight Kimeramon, Wormmon having lead him and Davis to the Digi-egg, which served as a power source to the Emperor's base.
After he revealed to Davis his crush on Gatomon, Davis made various unsuccessful attempts at causing his partner to evolve to his champion form, eventually angering a Tortomon that chased them around for a while until Veemon evolved to ExVeemon and hurled him off a cliff. Veemon and Wormmon were later the first Digimon to DNA Digivolve to form Paildramon, in order to fight off Arukenimon's Okuwamon. They would repeat that feat regularly to fight BlackWarGreymon, with various degrees of success. Then, around Christmas time, Veemon and Wormmon were empowered by one of Azulongmon's Digicores. This enabled them, as Paildramon, to digivolve to Imperialdramon who would mode-change into Imperialdramon Fighter Mode during the battle against SkullSatamon, thanks to the extra power given up by the original Adventure Digimon.
During the final battle against MaloMyotismon, Veemon Digivolved to ExVeemon to fight the villain on his own while the other Destined where trapped in illusions. When Davis wished for his partner to become stronger, Veemon somehow evolved to all his standalone forms at once. After they freed the others from their illusions, ExVeemon and Stingmon evolved to their three higher forms.[3]
After MaloMyotismon's defeat, on Valentines day, Veemon helped Davis in his identity crisis to the point of having himself be beaten by his partner when he assumed Ken's "Emperor" persona. But after that was settled and Pukumon appeared, Veemon Armor Digivolved to Saggitarimon after Davis ended up with TK's D-Terminal. By the summer of 2003, Diaboromon returned, and set in motion a series of events that led to a mass of Kuramon forming into the gigantic Armageddemon. Over the course of this battle, Omnimon gave Imperialdramon his power, causing him to mode change into the even more powerful Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.
Other appearances
- Prior to becoming Davis' partner in the anime, Veemon was Ryo's partner during the events of the WonderSwan game Digimon Adventure 02 Tag Tamers. Veemon and Ryo partnered in order to defeat Milleniummon.
- In Digimon Frontier, multiple Veemon were seen at the Autumn Leaf Fair.
- Veemon was with Davis when he was sent to the V-Tamer continuity containing Taichi Yagami and Zeromaru during a battle against Parallelmon, who had been kidnapping Tamers and Digi-Destined from various universes. During the battle, he digivolved into ExVeemon, Flamedramon, and finally, Magnamon, who aided Zeromaru in destroying Parallelmon. In the end Davis and the rest of the Digi-Destined returned to their respective universes.
Trivia
- The "V" in Veemon's name stands for "victory".
- Veemon is generally considered the natural rookie form of Veedramon.
- Veemon's japanese name literally transliterates to and is pronounced as Buimon, this is in part due to the fact that traditional katakana does not differenciate between the sounds /b/ and /v/. It is, however, always transcribed as V-mon.
Notes
- ^ Despite his classification as a dragon Digimon, Veemon looks, for all practical purposes, like a lizard
- ^ a b These levels are only ever achieved through DNA-digivolution.
- ^ When all the digivolved duplicates crossed back into the Digital World, only ImperialDramon Fighter Mode did not disappear, prompting the conclusion that all other forms were actually doppelgangers of somesort.
