Hannah Montana is a Disney Channel Original Series which made its debut on Friday, March 24, 2006. Miley Cyrus stars as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana, who lives a quadriple life as a normal girl at school during the day, gay guy at noon, lesbo girl at noon, and a famous pop/rock star (Hannah Montana) at night. However, no one knows about her secret except for her widowed father, who is also her manager (played by Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus), her brother, and her two best friends. The show is co-created by Michael Poryes who also co-created another hit Disney Channel show That's So Raven.
The series premiere scored record ratings for Disney Channel, "an unbelievable response — beyond our wildest expectations," according to the president of Disney Channel Entertainment Gary Marsh, most likely due to its lead-in from DCOM "Cow Belles". The target audience is children ages 6-14 (mainly girls)[1]. The show averaged 3.5 million viewers an episode in the month following it's debut[2].

At home Miley lives a totally regular life. She has a dad, an annoying brother and two best
friends. But what the other kids don't know is that she really is...Hannah Montana! Her best friends are Lilly Truscot and Oliver Oken. When she is Hannah Montana, she wears a blond wig and ocassionaly, sunglasses.
Lilly Truscott
Played by Emily Osment
Lilly is Miley's best friend. She is pretty dim-witted but can be smart at times. She is a skateboarder. Lilly was the first one of Miley's friends to find out that Miley is Hannah Montana. She, like Miley, also has a double life.
When she's with Hannah, she is known as Lola LaFonda or Lola Luffnangle. As Lola Luffnangle, she wears a blue wig and cyberpunk rock clothes. As Lola LaFonda, she wears a red wig and thick make-up.
Oliver Oken
Played by Mitchel Musso.
Oliver is Miley's best friend who is a boy. He is very interested in girls, especially Hannah Montana. He was the second to know that Miley is Hannah Montana. He helps kids open lockers at their school and is known as "locker man". He is afraid of gum. One of his nicknames is "Smokin' Oken"
Robby Stewart
Played by Billy Ray Cyrus
Robby is Miley's dad/manager/producer. He loves Miley and Jackson (Miley's brother) very much. He writes all of Hannah Montana's songs. He has no wife because she died three years ago.
Jackson Stewart
Played by Jason Earles
Jackson loves two things: picking on his sister and girls. Jackson is Miley's big brother by three years. He also keeps Miley's secret about being Hannah Montana.
He has a car that used to belong to girls, but he didn't know until his friend pointed it out. Then his dad changed the horn from a high pitched squeak to a truck horn, and made the car a lowrider.

| At the end of the concert, Oliver sneaks onto Hannah's limo and tries to get his hand kissed by Hannah. Lola/Lilly's dog licks his hand instead, but he still thinks Hannah did it. At school, Oliver goes around showing off the hand that he calls, "The Hannah Hand". Then a bully puts gum all over the Hannah Hand, and oliver has a flashback of his aunt spitting gum on him when he was a baby. Miley worries that Oliver's obsession with Hannah Montana has gone too far. With the knowledge that he has a strong dislike of gum, she puts on her Hannah disguise and Lilly arranges a 'coincidental' meeting with Oliver. Then Hannah reveals to Oliver that she is Miley, and Oliver doesn't love Hannah anymore. | ||||

| Miley and Jackson sneak out of thier house to check out the latest Ashton Kutcher film and spot their dad at the same theatre on a date. Hannah feels sad because she thinks her dad is going to replace her mom. Jackson steals her dad's PDA and finds out that the woman is a real-estate agent named Margo Diamond. To learn more , Miley dresses up as Hannah Montana and gets Jackson to "chauffer" her to the real estate agency where she works. Then, Hannah pretends she is buying a house, but when her dad comes in, she hides in the closet. The real-estate agent tells the dad that Hannah Montana is in the closet! Then Miley's dad looks in the closet and sees Miley and Jackson. | ||||

| Miley has a crush on a cute boy and everything is just perfect... that is until she discovers his hate for Hannah Montana. | Lilly pretends to be Hannah's friend, Lola Loftangle, at a party. Because she is not used to alot of stars hanging around her, Lilly embarrasses Hannah and follows a star to the bathroom. Then Hannah gets invited to a party without Lilly, so Hannah tells Lilly the party was canceled. Hannah goes to the party anyways, but attacks a paparazzi. The paparazzi take a picture of her and it ends up as the front cover in the newspaper. So, Miley has to collect all of the newspapers in town, so Lilly doesn't see the picture of Hannah at the party. Then, in the end, Hannah tells Lilly the truth. Also, Jackson's date makes him bald. | ||||

- Hannah Montana scored an incredible 5.4 million viewers for the premiere episode, a record for any series premiere on Disney Channel ever. The last Disney Channel show to hold that record was The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
- As a result of the show's early popularity, Disney has ordered an additional six episodes, bring the first season total up to 26.
