Sigambrer

The west germanic tribe of the Sigambrer (or Sugumbrer) lived during the Roman time between the river Ruhr and Sieg in an area that is today a part of the state Northrhine Westphalia withinGermany. The river Sieg as well as the city of Siegen were entiteld according to this tribe.

The origin of the tribe is not finally solved. Probably they evolved between 800 and 500 b.c..

They are historically mentioned around 55 b.c. 11 b.c. they are forced by the Romans to move to the left site of river Rhine, where they finally dissolved with the Franks
