Johann David Schoepff.

Johann David Schoepf (March 8, 1752 - September 10, 1800) was a German physician, botanist and zoologist.

He was born in Bayreuth, and travelled to New York in 1777 as the chief surgeon of the Hessian troops fighting for King George III of the United Kingdom.

He returned to Europe in 1784, and died in 1800. His North American observations are recorded in Travels in the Confederation [1783-1784].
