A cat walk is a narrow platform suspended above normal walking surfaces to give access to equipment for maintenance. The most common applications for cat walks include factories, theatres, sporting areanas and industrial facilites. In factories and industrial facilities, these steel walkways may be used to access large equipment and equipment located near the cieling. In theatres and other performance spaces, cat walks may access lighting and sound equipment. In buildings with false cielings (e.g. large historic buildings), cat walks are used to access equipment in the unused space above the ceiling.
