The Countess of Derby

Charlotte de la Tremoüille, Countess of Derby (1599 - 1664), born Charlotte de la Tremoüille, was the daughter of Claude, Duc de Thouars and wife of the 7th Earl of Derby, who was taken prisoner at Worcester in 1651, and was beheaded at Bolton. Lady Derby was famous for her gallant defence of Lathom House against the Parliamentary forces, which she was obliged to surrender.
