Power Rangers: Mystic Force (often abbreviated as "PRMF") is the fourteenth incarnation of the Power Rangers television series. It officially premiered February 20th, 2006 on Toon Disney, February 25th on ABC Family, ABC Kids on March 11th, and on The Family Network on June 4th in Canada. The show is based on the Super Sentai series, Mahou Sentai Magiranger (Magical Squadron Magic Ranger).

In Fall 2006, Power Rangers will go to 1 hour on ABC Kids due to ABC Family's announcement that it will be dropping the Jetix programming block.

Synopsis

Template:Spoiler A short time ago, there was a dimension filled with wonderful magic. But then, darkness came into power and the Great Battle began. An army of the undead, led by a powerful warrior, swarmed into the land with their sights set on the human realm and beyond.

All seemed hopeless, until a small legion of brave and true wizards came forth. Battling valiantly against insurmountable odds, they drove the evil back from the edge of the human world. The strongest wizard of all then cast a spell and sent the evil warriors into the Underworld, sealing them in gates for all eternity and successfully thwarting their attempt to take the surface world.

But with great victory comes great loss...

The human world never knew of the Great Battle, nor of the sacrifices made to spare their lives from destruction. Even to this day they live in peace and tranquility, totally unaware of what is about to awaken...

Five brave teens are chosen by the sorceress Udonna to become the Power Rangers alongside her. But when Udonna loses her Ranger powers, it is up to the five new Rangers to save the Earth. They must fight the underworld demons such as the mysterious Master, Imperious, Koragg, Necrolai, Leelee, the Styxoids and the Hidiacs with only Udonna, her niece Clare and the troblin Phineas to help them in their mystical quest. Toby, a human who is the Rangers' boss doesn't know about them being Power Rangers, but he can still give them good advice. In time, another ally will join their ranks: Daggeron, the Solaris Knight and his genie, Jenji the Cat.

Using their powerful magic and incredible martial arts skills, the six Mystic Rangers must rely on teamwork to save the day.

Mystic Force Rangers

Other characters

  • Toby: The teens' boss at Rock Porium. (Portrayed by Barnie Duncan)

Arsenal

  • Fire Heart: An item sought by both the Rangers and the villains, which the Rangers eventually found and took back to Rootcore where Udonna revealed that it was the last dragon egg. When Jenji was released in Scaredy Cat, he told the Rangers that it must be sat on to hatch. Clare did so, and when the dragon was released, it came to call her "Mama".

The Fire Heart
  • Legend Mode: A power-up for the five core Rangers. This includes more gear like the Mystic Lion Staffs and extra armor.
  • Magi Staff: A compact staff carried by each of the five Rangers, with multiple functions.
    • Wand Mode: The Magi Staff in its original form. In this mode, the Blue Ranger can use it to channel her elemental water powers, the Pink Ranger can use her elemental wind powers, shapeshifting abilities, or a combination of the two, the Red Ranger can conjure fire, and the Green Ranger can use it to summon powerful vines to restrain his enemies.
    • Axe Mode: An axe that the Green Ranger uses. It is capable of producing shockwaves and fissures when it strikes the ground.
    • Crossbow Mode: A crossbow with which the Yellow Ranger can fire bolts of electricity and special attachments such as the vampire disintegrating Dawn Crystal.
    • Sword Mode: A sword brandished by the Red Ranger*. The blade can be engulfed in flame at his will.
  • "Muscle Mode": After learning his lesson in "Inner Strength", Xander received a new spell code where he gained exaggerated muscles, with which he was able to defeat Behomoth easily.
  • Mystic Battlizer: The Red Mystic Ranger's Battlizer allows for a great power boost. Nick gets covered in blue knight-like armor, gains wings, wields two Dragon Force Battle Staffs, and carries an activation device that looks like Daggeron's Solar Cell Morpher.
  • Mystic Force Fighters: Large red boxing gloves capable of increasing the wearer's strength, speed and stamina. They can be used by the five core Rangers, but they were originally activated by Xander when he fought Skullington. Xander finished off Skullington by leaping incredibly high into the air and landing on his fist, causing a fissure. Nick later used them against Koragg, channeling his elemental powers and setting himself ablaze before launching himself at the Knight Wolf from within a flaming tornado in a move he called the "Spin Attack".
  • Mystic Morphers: These cell phones, which morph the Rangers with the call of "Magical Source, Mystic Force!", can perform spells via various digit-based codes that are entered into the keypad. They were originally magic wands, but Udonna changed them to suit the Rangers' liking. (See Spells Section).
  • Snow Staff: Udonna's own variant Magi Staff and her personal weapon while morphed. It's somewhat like the Red Ranger's Sword in length, but its "blade" is not used as such. It is capable of releasing blasts of wind cold enough to freeze an opponent in place. When Koragg the Knight Wolf defeated Udonna in battle, he stole the Snow Staff and took it to the Pit where it is currently kept. Koragg once used the Staff to somehow contact Nick by way of magical telepathy, creating a two-way telepathic connection which they can both now use without the Snow Staff.
  • Solar Cell Morpher: The Solaris Knight's morphing device.
  • Xenotome: The Xenotome is an ancient, mystical book and the Rangers' main source of magical information. Whenever the Rangers unlock a Spell Code, the Xenotome will explain the spell's function. The Xenotome is a fountain of untapped magical knowledge, hence it is called "The Book of The Unknown".

Note: While Nick's weapon is a sword, for all intents and purposes, and was even called by such a name in "Broken Spell, Part 2", he has recently been reffering to it as a "Striker". This is most likely an error on behalf of the writers, though that possibility is currently unconfirmed

Vehicles

The Rangers ride these powerful magical machines into battle against their evil enemies.

  • Mystic Racers: Five large futuristic flight vehicles used for transportation that are actually old wooden brooms and revert to this form when not in use. They are kept on special revolving walls in Rootcore.
  • Mystic Speeder: An extremely powerful motorcycle used by the Red Ranger, capable of travelling at high speeds. Its offensive abilities include launching a large front-mounted projectile and laser blasts.
  • Mystic Carpet: This is what the Solaris Knight uses to get around. It is a magic carpet going at high speeds.
  • Titan Megazord (combination of the five Mystic Titans)
    • Mystic Phoenix (Nick/Red)
    • Mystic Dragon (combination of Mystic Garuda, Mermaid, Sprite, and Minotaur)
      • Mystic Garuda (Chip/Yellow)
      • Mystic Mermaid (Madison/Blue)
      • Mystic Sprite (Vida/Pink)
      • Mystic Minotaur (Xander/Green)
  • Catastros (Koragg)
    • Knightwolf Centaur (combination of Koragg and Catastros)
    • Centaurus Wolf Megazord (combination of Koragg and Catastros)
    • Centaurus Phoenix Megazord (combination of Mystic Phoenix and Catastros)
  • Solar Train (Daggeron/Solaris)
    • Solar Streak Megazord (Battle Mode of Solar Train)
  • Mystic Legend Megazord (combination of Firebird and Lion)
    • Legend Firebird (Nick/Red)
    • Legend Lion (Chip/Yellow, Madison/Blue, Vida/Pink, Xander/Green)
  • Steerdergon (Nick/Red)
    • Steerdergon Fury Megazord (combination of Mystic Phoenix and Steedergon)

Villains

  • The Master: The Master is the absolute ruler of the Morlocks and the Underworld.
  • Imperious: A mummy with powerful dark magic released from an ancient relic who took control of the Underworld after Morticon was destroyed. (Voiced by Stuart Devenie)
  • Morticon: A high-ranking undead cyborg in the Morlock army. He was destroyed by the Titan Megazord, which had assistance from Udonna's spectral self. (Voiced by Andrew Robertt)
  • Necrolai: A vampiress spy of the Morlock army and the mother of Leelee. (Voiced by Donogh Rees)
  • Koragg: A dark magician/warrior in the Morlock army. Has control over Catastros. He now holds Morticon's sword. (Voiced by Geoff Dolan)
  • Leelee: A frequent Rock Porium customer and Necrolai's daughter. (Portrayed by Holly Shanahan)
  • Hidiacs: Undead zombie grunts that carry axes into battle
  • Styxoids: Hidiac generals that carry spears into battle and can apparently speak. (Voiced by Nick Kemplen)

Spells

Mystic Rangers

Each of the Mystic Morpher digits featured below corresponds to a certain spell syllable.

Digit - Corresponding Spell Syllable

  • 1 - Galwit
  • 2 - Mysto
  • 3 - Ranger
  • 4 - Motro
  • 5 - Prifior
  • 6 - Unios
  • 7 - Du
  • 8 - Tryn
  • 9 - Aerotan
  • 0 - Neramax

Mystic Morpher Spell Codes

When certain digits are combined, they create a "Spell Code" which the Rangers can use to cast spells and perform specific abilities. These codes are featured below.

Digits Entered - Spell Incantation - Purpose Of Spell

  • 123 - Galwit Mysto Ranger - Morphing Spell.
  • 129 - Galwit Mysto Aerotan - Summons Mystic Racers.
  • 124 - Galwit Mysto Motro - Summon Mystic Speeder. Only Nick has used it.
  • 125 - Galwit Mysto Prifior - Rangers into Mystic Titans.
  • 126 - Galwit Mysto Unios - Titan Megazord Formation.
  • 1026 - Galwit Neramax Mysto Unios - Mystic Dragon Formation
  • 883 - Tryn Tryn Ranger - Summon Mystic Force Fighters.
  • 10 - Galwit Neramax - Engages Xander's "muscle mode"

Mystic Titan Spells

  • Mystic Spell Seal - This spell allows the Titan Megazord to finish off its opponents by casting a magical circle with its Titan Saber, then slashing through the circle and into the monster.
  • Counter Spell - Mystic Phoenix used this spell to return Morticon to the Underworld.
  • Titans Attack - The Rangers call upon the spirits of "Ancient Titans", their main power source in their Ranger forms and, aparrently, Titan forms. With this power boost, the Titan Megazord casts a Mystic Spell Seal in the sky and flies into it, increasing its power before descending and slashing through the seal into the monster.
  • Mystic Strike - By channelling the power of Udonna's Snow Staff, the White Ranger's power is added to the Titan Saber, which then slashes through a monster with incredible power.

Dark Magic Spells

Powerful spells used by the villains, and, apparently, powered by The master of the underworld.

  • Dark Magic Strike: A powerful general attack used by Koragg the Knight Wolf and Morticon. When Koragg uses it in his normal scale form, it attacks as his only known sword spell attack. When the Centuarus Wolf Megazord uses it, it's exactly the same as the Dark Magic Spell Seal, except more powerful. It also turns the blade of the Centaurus Wolf's lance bright blue. Finally, Morticon used in his giant form. It apparently draws in pitchblack dark magic energy into his Sword, allowing him to attack with more power than a normal slash can deliver. Though it isn't character-specific, it appears to be limited only to bladed weapons as the focus item. With Morticon recently destroyed in battle, it is technically now a Koragg exclusive.
  • Oderfni Ihcilasab - Chip's backwards rendition of Koragg's "Basilichi Infredo" spell, which released Nick and Catastros from the Underworld. When used it had the same dark seal as the "Basilichi Infredo" spell. This means it is technically dark magic even though Chip used it.

Koragg Spells

The Dark Magic spells of Koragg the Knight Wolf:

  • Uthe Mejor - Allows Koragg to enlarge himself. Koragg also mistakenly used this spell to enlarge the Taxi Cab Monster
  • Uthe Mejor Catastros - Summons Catastros.*
  • Sumbol Unithos Equestras - Koragg combines with Catastros to form the Knight Centaurus.*
  • Uthe Mejor Ultimas - Koragg combines with Catastros to become the Centaurus King Megazord.*
  • Uthe Sastos - Self-teleportation.
  • Uthra Norqua Ozarro - Teleport others.
  • Uthra Mejor - Enlarges monsters.
  • Basalichi Infredo - Opens a portal to the Underworld.

Note: The spells relating to Catastros have been inconsistent in recent episodes, such as Sumbol Unithos Equestras forming the Megazord form instead of the Centaur form.

Centaurus Wolf Megazord Spells
  • Dark Magic Spell Seal - This spell works similarly to the Mystic Rangers' "Mystic Spell Seal" attack, with the Centaurus King Megazord using his lance's blade to cut through a purple circle of dark magic, attacking the opponent.
  • Dark Source, Evil Force - This spell can remove selected magic from an opponent.
  • Dark Magic Strike: Koragg draws his dark magic into the Centaurus King Megazord's lance, turning the weapon's blade bright blue, before striking the opponent. Morticon is able to use a similar attack with his own sword.

Imperious Spells

  • Ignacio
  • Mejura

Magical Spells

  • Mysto Aerotan - Udonna cast this spell and summoned broomsticks to help the Rangers escape from an army of Hidiacs.
  • Corum Oviat Ditrum - Clare meant to freeze the Rangers with this spell, but instead morphed into a sheep.
  • Morthay Mammun - Udonna used this spell to revert Clare to her human form, from that of a sheep.
  • Utum Zore - Udonna used this spell to change the Rangers' magic wands into Mystic Morphers.
  • Sorvadum Nuchaios - Udonna's attempt to unpetrify Madison with this spell proved useless against the dark magic of Clawbster.
  • Craneor Magnus - Madison cast this spell on Xander, which made his head grow to a huge size.
  • Reflectus Targo - Nick changed the ground into a large mirror with this spell.
  • Levitatus Milanda - The caster can float in the air with this spell.
  • Florum Xylo Copa - Clare intended to get some flowers from a bush, but instead summoned a swarm of bees.
  • Hilarium Shenolia - Clare tried to levitate a bowling ball with this spell; instead, she became bald.
  • Finishio - Clare told Nick to use this spell on her, returning her to normal after her latest misadventure with magic. Nick later remembered this spell and used it on Catastros, healing a magical wound.
  • Colinog Trebanage - Chip said this spell contacts lost loved ones, but it did not display any effects when he used it.
  • Oderfni Ichilasab - Chip's backwards rendition of Koragg's "Basilichi Infredo" spell, which released Nick and Catastros from the Underworld.
  • Vivacim Erectu - When Xander first used this spell it brought a cardboard cutout of legendary rocker Jake Bonebreaker to life. When Xander cast the spell again, the effect was reversed.
  • Noru Estraba Luxrotu - During her time of captivity in the Underworld, Udonna used this spell to channel the power of her Snow Staff and conjure a giant spectral image of her White Ranger alter-ego to assist the Rangers in their duel against Morticon.

Trivia

  • The Power Rangers series will reach its 600th episode this season.
  • Chip, the Yellow Mystic Ranger, and Udonna, the White Mystic Ranger, are the first known Power Rangers to have red hair. (Though Sam had red hair as a child, his future adult counterpart, featured in Endings Part 2, did not).
  • Kelson Henderson (Boom in Power Rangers: S.P.D.) has a role as Phineas in this series (this time in costume), making Mystic Force the 3rd consecutive Power Ranger series he has appeared in.
  • ABC Kids now shows previews of the present ABC Kids airing of Power Rangers Mystic Force. Unlike Toon Disney and ABC Family, ABC Kids airs the episode promotions full screen instead of split screen during the credits.
  • Antonia Prebble (Krista in Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, and the voice of S.P.D. Nova Ranger in Power Rangers: SPD) has a role in Mystic Force as Clare, which makes this her 3rd consecutive appearance in some form in a Power Rangers series.
  • John Tui will also be returning for his 2nd consecutive Power Rangers series appearance. He portrayed Commander Anubis "Doggie" Cruger in the previous season, Power Rangers: SPD, so he will become the first actor to portray two different characters who are Rangers.
  • Barnie Duncan (Piggy in Power Rangers: SPD) also returns for a second consecutive season, this time free of make-up, as Toby, a friend of the Rangers who operates the store the Rangers work in, the Rock-Porium.
  • This will be the second Power Rangers team not to feature an African American Ranger; the first was Power Rangers: Ninja Storm.
  • This is the third season where Power Rangers draw their abilities from the elements (Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Thunder/Lightning, Ice, etc). The first season to do this was Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, and the second was Power Rangers: Ninja Storm.
  • This is the second Power Ranger team (after S.P.D) to simultaneously feature a Green and a White Ranger serving on a team during the same generation (Note: Even though Udonna was defeated and her powers were removed, she and Xander are technically still on the same team).
  • Madison and Vida are sisters, making Mystic Force the 1st season with two sisters as Power Rangers, and the 4th in terms of siblings. First being Leo & Mike Corbett (Lost Galaxy), followed by Dana & Ryan Mitchell (Lightspeed Rescue), and Hunter & Blake Bradley (Ninja Storm, although they were adopted brothers, not blood-related). Andros and Karone were also siblings, but they did not serve on the same Ranger teams.
  • The Mystic Rangers will be the second Ranger team to have more than six Rangers, the first being S.P.D. which ended with 14 overall (the five main B-Squad Rangers, Shadow Ranger, Omega Ranger, Kat Ranger for only one appearance, the five evil A-Squad Rangers, and Nova Ranger in the finale).
  • Power Rangers: Mystic Force and Power Rangers: SPD will be the third team up produced by Disney.
  • Mystic Force currently holds the record for the shortest full season made with only 32 episodes scheduled to air.
  • This will be the first time since Power Rangers: Turbo that a Ranger with a non-American accent has been a member of the core team. During the first half of that series, Katherine Hillard (played by Catherine Sutherland who had previously been the second Pink Mighty Morphin Ranger and Zeo Ranger I) was from Australia and had a noticeable Australian accent, just like Sutherland. This now applies to Xander Bly, the Green Mystic Ranger, as he is the only member of the Mystic Force to use his natural Australian accent as that is where his character is from (the other Ranger actors, despite hailing from Australia and New Zealand, put on American accents for the series). The actor who plays Xander, Richard Brancatisano, is from New South Wales, Australia.
  • This will be the final series to air on ABC Family, which will drop the Jetix block in fall 2006.
  • This will be the first time the five core Rangers actually become their Zords (through use of their magic) as opposed to just piloting them.
  • This is the first Power Rangers series to start with the White Ranger being the first Ranger established. This is also the first Power Rangers series to premiere six Rangers at the beginning, although after the first episode the White Ranger no longer has her powers.
  • This is the third series to have a female mentor, following after Princess Shayla from Wild Force and Dimitria from Power Rangers: Turbo.
  • This is the first series to have three female Rangers at the beginning of the season.
  • Morticon is the first main villain to be based on his Sentai counterpart since Diabolico in Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, as all the main villains since then have been unique to the U.S. (not counting Master Org from Power Rangers: Wild Force as he lacked a direct Sentai counterpart. His costume was derived from the master villain from Gosei Sentai Dairanger).
  • The episode "Whispering Voices" was originally known as "Whispering Lies". The episode "Stranger Within Parts 1 and 2" was originally known as "Enemy Within Parts 1 and 2".
  • The horse Catastros is the third "live-action" animal to be used to represent a Zord. A white falcon was used in season three of MMPR to represent the White Ranger's Falconzord when Lord Zedd captured it, and a live turtle was used to create Tor the Shuttlezord in season two MMPR.
  • This the is the third season where a Power Ranger (Vida, the Pink Mystic Force Ranger) has been turned into a vampire. The first was in the Power Rangers: Zeo episode It Came From Angel Grove where Tommy (albeit in a dream sequence of Adam's) portrayed a vampire, the second was in the Power Rangers: Turbo episode Carlos and the Count where Carlos was bitten and transformed into a vampire.
  • This is the eighth time in Power Rangers history that one of the villains has an offspring, in the instance of Necrolai being Leelee's mother. First time was in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers where Master Vile is Rita Repulsa and Rito Revolto's father; second was in Power Rangers: Zeo where King Mondo and Queen Machina are Prince Gasket and Sprocket's parents; third was in Power Rangers: Turbo where Mama D is Divatox's mother; fourth was in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy where Scorpius is Trakeena's father; fifth was in Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue where Queen Bansheera is Olympius' mother; sixth was in Power Rangers: Time Force where Ransik is Nadira's father; and seventh was in Power Rangers: Dino Thunder where Zeltrax was the genetical father of the short lived Golden Rod.
  • The Mystic Dragon is the third dragon-based Zord in Power Rangers history. The other two were featured in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Green Ranger's Dragonzord (although Dragonzord was Godzilla-based) and the Red Ranger's Red Dragon Thunderzord.
  • The episode Petrified Xander revealed that the Styxoids can speak, making Mystic Force the sixth series to feature footsoldiers that can speak. The Tenga Warriors from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were the first to speak, second were the Cogs from Power Rangers: Zeo, third were Quantrons in Power Rangers In Space, the Kelzaks of Power Rangers: Ninja Storm which in the episode Shane's Karma part 1 could be heard audibly listing the supplies needed for the high school reunion and the Orangehead and Bluehead Krybots from SPD are the fourth, Also the Piranatrons from Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
  • In the episode Gatekeeper, Part 2, Morticon was destroyed. This marks the fifth time in Power Ranger history that the main villain was destroyed mid-season. The first was King Mondo in Power Rangers: Zeo, then Scorpius in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, then Diabalico in Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, and Master Org in Power Rangers: Wild Force (although out of those four, Scropius was the only one not to be restored towards the end of the season).
  • Due to the fact that in Japanese children's programming, guidelines are much more leniant than those of the United States, Magiranger's villianness, Vancuria (AKA "Necrolai" ), was able to have a rather revealing costume with realistic breasts. Due to this, Disney never shows close-up, full body images of Necrolai, and instead zooms in on her face and avoids showing her chest area as many times as possible. In scenes with Necrolai filmed for the American audience, the revealing costume is replaced with a full bodysuit.
  • Third series to have a ranger, Daggeron aka Solaris Knight, have facial hair, goatee.
