General Information
Langstaff Secondary School (LSS) is a public high school in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada; which teaches grades 9 through 12. LSS is currently located at 106 Garden Ave. just down the street, from the elementary school, Charles Howitt Public School. Morgan Boyle Park is just across the street, and is popular with students on their lunch break
In 2003, the school went under a major renovation/addition. This doubled the size of the school, adding many new facilities for the growing student population. The school currently has 3 floors.
The school is well known in the YRDSB for being a clean school, meaning it does not have a large drug/violence problem, the most being a few smokers/drinkers, this may be because of the police vehicles that stake-out in the parking lot.
Facilities/Layout
The school has 2 gyms, one located on the first floor, and the second located on the second floor. The larger gym doubles as an auditorium. The school technically has 2 libraries, but the older one has been converted into a multi-purpose room used for special-education and such. There are 2 portables at the back of the school used for core-french classes. The school is split up into multiple halls, based on the subject. The science, technology, politics and art halls are all located on the second floor, while music is located on the third. The english, geography, and math halls are located on the first floor. The cafeteria is also located here. The school is wheelchair accessible, with a working elevator and ramps. In May/June 2006 the school went under a major roofing cleaning and change. This allowed the school to update almost all it's air conditioning, plumbing, and other major renovations left over since the birth of the new wing.
