Chencha is a city in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region of Ethiopia. Located in the Semien Omo Zone, Chencha is 37 kilometers north of Arba Minch. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia published in 2005, Chencha has an estimated total population of 10,012, consisting of 4533 men and 5479 women.[1]

This city had been the capital of Gamu-Gofa province until those offices were transferred to the more accessible city of Arba Minch. Chencha is located in the middle of the Dorze people.
