Spearman-Brown prophecy formula

In statistics, the Spearman-Brown prophecy formula or Spearman-Brown prediction formula relates reliability to test length.

The formula is derived from criterion validity calculations, but it can also be used to estimate what the reliability would be if the number of items in a test would be different; or if the test length were different.
