Juanita Millender-McDonald

Juanita Millender-McDonald (born September 7 1938), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1996, representing California's 37th congressional district (map), which includes most of South Central Los Angeles and the city of Long Beach, California. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, was educated at California State University, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, and was a teacher, a member of the Carson, California City Council and a member of the California State Assembly before entering the House. The Congresswoman is the Ranking Democrat on the U.S. House Committee on House Administration. She is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. She was considered a front runner for the job of Secretary of Transportation if John Kerry had been elected President in 2004.
