Iowa Speedway is a 7/8 mile long paved oval motor racing track currently under construction in Newton, Iowa, approximately 30 miles east of Des Moines. The track was designed with influence from Rusty Wallace and patterned after Richmond International Raceway. It will have 25,000 permanent seats at the time of its completion as well as a unique multi-tiered Recreational Vehicle viewing area along the backstretch. The first races are slated for September 2006 and the Indy Racing League will likely race there in 2007. The track is also likely to pursue future NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series dates.
