145th Street is a two-track station with side platforms on New York City's Interborough Rapid Transit system. The platforms are small, and only allow about 6 cars into the station (only the first 5 open). There is no northbound entrance. Directly north of the station are crossovers for the Template:NYCS 3 train's approach to its terminal at 148th Street-Lenox Terminal, while directly south of the station is the 142nd Street junction with the IRT White Plains Road Line. These two reasons could possibly be the reasoning behind not extending the platforms.
