Gungrave is a Playstation 2 video game produced in Japan by Sega. It follows the story of "Beyond the Grave" (or just "Grave"), a man who was betrayed by the criminal organization he was once a part of. During the game, you set out to seek revenge on that organization.

Grave carries two twin guns, called Cerberos (named after the three-headed hound of Hades). He also carries a coffin strapped to his back that doubles as assorted special weapons, including a machine gun and a rocket launcher.

The game itself was given moderate ratings due mostly to its short gameplay and minimal replay value. However, the very anime-like stylings from creators Yasuhiro Nightow (of Trigun fame) and Kousuke Fujishima (of Oh My Goddess! and You're Under Arrest fame) gave the game a very distinct and unique look and feel that impressed many people.

In 2003, it was announced that an anime television series would be created based on Gungrave. This anime is began broadcasting on October 6 on TV Tokyo and broadcasting on March 29, 2004. The series involved many of the same characters (and seiyuu) found in the game.
