Hungerford is a market town by the River Kennet in the English county of Berkshire.

Hungerford is situated on several transport routes, of both historic and current importance, including the Old Bath Road (A4) and the Kennet and Avon Canal. It also has a station the Great Western Railway line to the West Country; a reasonable rail service to Newbury, Reading and London means that the Hungerford has developed into something of a dormitory town.

Administratively, Hungerford is part of West Berkshire Unitary District, although it has its own town council to administer local matters.

One particularly tragic aspect of Hungerford's history was the Hungerford Massacre, which was considered all the more remarkable for occurring in a sleepy place such as this.
