Brothers of Destruction is the name of the former professional wrestling tag team of The Undertaker & Kane.

Career

The Brothers Of Destruction

Undertaker and Kane are storyline-wise 'half-brothers'. They first joined forces in August 1998, before Undertaker's WWF Title match with Stone Cold Steve Austin. When the Undertaker failed to gain the title, Mr. McMahon put them in a Triple Threat Match with Austin. When they both pinned Austin at the same time, Austin lost the belt, but it was not decided who among the brothers was champion. When Vince tried to crown one of them champion, Austin drove a zamboni to the ring and attacked McMahon. This made Vince furious and he decided not to crown either brother the new champion. This made the brothers attack and "destroy" the leg of Vince McMahon. Vince then decided to make the brothers fight each other to determine the new champion. The match ended in a no contest when the special referee, Austin, counted them both out.

The brothers did not perform as a tag team again until 2000 when they took on Edge & Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship. They nearly won the titles but Kurt Angle interfered to help Edge & Christian retain the titles. Kane turned on The Undertaker by giving him two Chokeslams in The Undertaker's match against Chris Benoit.

Later the two reunited and took on Rikishi and Haku in a brutal First Blood Match. They would then get a shot at the Tag titles at No Way Out, facing the champions Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian in a Tables Match. The Brothers of Destruction dominated the entire match, and nearly had the match won until Rikishi and Haku interfered.

The Undertaker and Kane started focusing on then Intercontinental Champion Triple H, who'd soon make a surprise alliance with WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. After the duo injured Kane's arm in a Hardcore Match against Rhyno, Kane threatened then Commissioner William Regal, and they were granted an opportunity to face Steve Austin and Triple H at Backlash if they first defeated Edge and Christian in a no-disqualification Match. Despite interference by Steve Austin and Triple H, Undertaker and Kane managed to win the WWF Tag titles and the right to face Steve Austin and Triple H (The Two-Man Power Trip). At Backlash, Triple H pinned Kane after using a sledgehammer, thus making he and Austin the new WWF Tag Team Champions.

With Kane injured, Undertaker began targeting Steve Austin and his WWF Championship. On an episode of RAW, Undertaker was told by police officers that his wife Sara had been involved in a car accident. Undertaker arrived home, only to find out that it was all a set up by Austin. At Judgment Day, Undertaker dominated his WWF Championship match with Austin. However, Triple H interfered, once more using his sledgehammer, allowing Austin to pin The Undertaker and retain his championship.

Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) was the next person to get in Undertaker's way. Page wanted to become as big a star as Undertaker, and so he started a feud with him, taking Undertaker's slogan, "I'll make you famous" quite literally. The basis of this feud involved Page stalking Undertaker's wife Sara. At SummerSlam 2001, Undertaker and Kane defeated Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Kanyon in a Steel Cage Match to win the WWF Tag-Team Championship (now called the World Tag-Team Championship) and defend the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Soon after, Undertaker turned heel and the two did not interact with each other for a long while.

The duo next teamed up again at the 2003 Royal Rumble, but Undertaker turned on Kane during the Royal Rumble match and eliminated him. Later that year at the Survivor Series, Kane interfered in the Buried Alive match between Undertaker and Vince McMahon, costing Undertaker the match. The two would end their feud with a match at WrestleMania XX, in which Undertaker returned to his Deadman character, and defeated Kane.

In 2005, Kane saved Undertaker from a double team from Heidenreich and Gene Snitsky at the Royal Rumble 2005. There was a rumor that the Brothers of Destruction would reunite and take on Snitsky and Heidenreich at Wrestlemania 21, but the plans were scrapped and Undertaker faced(and defeated) Randy Orton, while Kane lost in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

The two would cross paths again in late 2005 on UPN's "Smackdown! Special". Kane's partner, Big Show was in a match against Rey Mysterio when Kane showed up. Kane and Big Show double-teamed Rey until Undertaker showed up to represent Smackdown! Undertaker cleared Kane & Big Show out of the ring. Initially Kane retreated from the ring of his own accord but returned after Undertaker had knocked Show out of the ring to set up a chokeslam only to receive one from Undertaker.

Recently, Kane has expressed feelings that he wants to retire as soon as January 2007, but would first want to join Undertaker again before he retires, depending on the WWE writers, this could happen indeed.

                                          Return?

There are rumors circulating on the internet that the Brothers OF Destruction will return at Summerslam facing the team of The Great Khali and Mark Henry.
