Niedersachsen is one of 16 Bundeslands in Germany. Its English name is Lower Saxony.

Important cities are Braunschweig, Göttingen, Hanover, Oldenburg, Osnabrück. Niedersachsen surrounds Bremen, and borders on (from north and clockwise) the North Sea, Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Thueringen, Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, and the Netherlands.
