Steve Peat is a downhill mountain biker, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. He placed second in the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and was World Cup champion in 2002 and 2004.

Peat raced for Team MBUK in the mid to late nineties, and then GT Bicycles until joining the Orange team between 2002 and 2005. He has since joined the Santa Cruz Syndicate team for the 2006 season.

Before becoming a professional cyclist Peat was a plumber. He is married to Adele Croxen and has a son, Jake.

Steve Peat is widely known for his contribution to up-and-coming youth riders, most notably Brandan Fairclough and Josh Bryceland.

Peat also contributes to the design of clothing made by Royal Racing, of which he is owner.
