Artists who use Gibson guitars.
A
- Gem Archer (Oasis) - currently uses cherry-red and sunburst non-reverse Firebirds, a cherry-red Trini Lopez Standard, an Epiphone Casino, and a cherry-red Epiphone Sheraton.
- Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) - Uses three Les Paul Juniors on tour, a white one, a sunburst one, and a black one, and has used Gibsons in studio sessions on past albums.
- Chet Atkins As of January 2005 is no longer associated with Gibson - switched to Gibson from Gretsch in the early 1980s, Gibson made thousands of Country Gentlemen and Tennesseans, as well as several innovative acoustic/electric models.
B
- Matthew Bellamy (Muse) - Previously used SGs and Les Pauls.
- Chuck Berry - used a Gibson ES-350T early in his career; later used Gibson ES-345s and ES-355s primarily.
- Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown - has used various Gibsons over the years, such as Gibson ES-335s and L-5s; his main guitar was a late-60s non-reverse Firebird.
- Marc Bolan (T. Rex) - used Les Paul Customs and Flying Vs.
- Jack Bruce (Cream) - used several Gibson EB-3 basses during the late 1960s and early 1970s; used a 1950s-vintage EB-1 bass during the 2005 Cream reunion concerts.
C
- Eric Clapton - used a Gibson Les Paul in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and subsequently in Cream; also used a Gibson SG and Gibson ES-355 in Cream, before abandoning Gibsons for Fender guitars from 1970 onwards.
- Matt Costa - uses a Gibson J-45

- Tom DeLonge (Angels and Airwaves) - used to use a custom Fender Stratocaster but has started using a custom Gibson ES-335 painted brown with cream stripes.
- Mike Dirnt (Green Day) - Originally used a Gibson G-3 bass all the up way to the album when he received a Fender Precision Bass from fellow bandmate, Billie Joe Armstrong.
- Andy Dunlop (Travis) - Uses Les Paul.
E
- John Entwistle (The Who) - used several Thunderbird IV basses during the early 1970s and later used custom-made Thunderbird guitars with Fender Precision Bass necks; also used an EB-2 bass during the early days of The Who.
- Thomas Erak(The Fall of Troy) - Well known for his use of Les Paul Double Cuts. Has owned one Les Paul Double Cut Standard that is no longer in due to the neck being broken at a show. The other, a Les Paul Double Cut Pro is no longer in use for reasons unknown. He also owns an SG Supreme, which is not used due to one of the pick-ups being broken. He also used an Epiphone G-400 during his time with his old band prior th the Fall of Troy, The Thirty Years War.

- Ace Frehley (KISS)- Plays a Les Paul Custom, Cherry Sunburst, with three Humbuckers. There is also an Ace Frehley Signature Model. During the '70s the rest of KISS used Gibsons exclusivly. They played models including the Maurader, S-1, L6-S, Explorer, Flying V, Firebird, Ripper, and Grabber.
- Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) He has used multiple Gibson SG models
- John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival and a solo artist) uses several Les Pauls
- Jerome Fontamillas (Switchfoot) Uses a Black Gibson Les Paul
G
- Noel Gallagher (Oasis) - currently uses several sunburst Les Paul Standards, cherry-red 1961 ES-355, Firebirds, cherry-red Trini Lopez Standard, and a black '54 Re-Issue Les Paul Custom; has a signature Epiphone semi-solid guitar and has used several Epiphone models, including Rivieras and Sheraton IIs, he also uses a Flying V in the "D'You Know What I Mean" music video.
- Björn Gelotte (In Flames) - Uses Gibson Les Paul Customs.
- Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) - Billy is the owner of more than 600 guitars, but the creme de la creme of his collection is a 1959 Les Paul he named "Pearly Gates". Pearly can be heard exclusively on ZZ Top's First Album, as well as adorning the cover of that album.
- Matt Good (From First to Last) uses a Les Paul, Nighthawk Landmark, and owns various other Gibsons.
- Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) - uses many different Gibson models live and in the studio, particularly Explorers, SGs, and ES-335s; currently uses a black Firebird Studio guitar.

- Kirk Hammett (Metallica) Gibson Flying V and several Les Pauls
- George Harrison - Used a Les Paul with the Beatles.
- Matt Heafy (Trivium) - Uses a Les Paul.
- Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) - although traditionally known for his signature right handed Fender Stratocaster's strung and played left handed, Jimi owned and played several Gibson models such as the Gibson SG and especially the Gibson Flying V. He also has a signature model of the Gibson Flying V.
- James Hetfield (Metallica) - played a copy of Gibson Flying V in the early days of Metallica before switching to a Gibson Explorer model with which he is most identified as playing, ESP Guitars later made a Hetfield signature model based on the Explorer shape.
- Noel Hogan (The Cranberries) - Plays a Les Paul.

- Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) - Plays a Les Paul.
- Khalid Ilahi (Beyond Shadows) Gibson Gothic Explorer. Though not his best sounding guitar, it his favorite to play.
- Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) began using his backup guitar (a left handed Gibson SG ) before the release of Black Sabbath's debut album and quickly became identified with the model, he later had custom made SG's made for him by a variety of luthiers.
J
- Stephan Jenkins (Third Eye Blind) Gibson Explorer Natural Burst (customized in white and wood colors), Xplorer, Gold Top Les Paul, Jumbo Acoustic, '59 J-200.
- Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones) - sunburst dual-pickup ES-330; 1956 Les Paul goldtop; various sunburst Firebirds (reverse and non-reverse).
K
- B. B. King - over the years, B.B. King has used many different Gibson models; in the early 1950s, he used a natural-finished Gibson ES-5 and an ES-175; later, he popularized Gibson's thinline semi-acoustic guitars, such as the ES-330, ES-335, ES-345, and in particular, the ES-355 (which he nicknamed Lucille); Gibson currently produces several B.B. King signature Lucille for recording and performing live.
- Paul Kossoff (Free) - mainly used late-50s sunburst Les Paul Standards; also used an ES-335 occasionally in the studio.
- Robby Krieger (The Doors) - Red Gibson SG with black pick guard; modified with tremolo bar.
- Mike Kennerty (The All-American Rejects) Has used a White Gibson SG seen on the second preformance on Sessions@AOL
L
- John Lennon - Used a Les Paul with the Beatles, and later used a Les Paul with a P-90 and the bridge and a HotRail humbucker at the bridge.
- Alex Lifeson (Rush) - Howard Roberts Fusion, EDS1275 double-neck, SG, and currently plays a variety of Les Pauls, a Gibson Acoustic J-150 and a Gibson 355 .
- Billy Lunn (The Subways) - Uses various selections of Gibson SGs for Recording and Touring. He also used to use a Gibson Les Paul for earlier gigs.
M
- Daron Malakian (System of a Down) - Uses red and white SG's.
- Bob Marley (Bob Marley and The Wailers) - Used a Les Paul Custom until the day he died. It's now buried with him in his mausoleum, along with a bud of marijuana and a Bible.
- Tak Matsumoto (B'z) - First Asian guitarist to have a Signature Model produced in his honour. Currently holds the record for models with 4.
- Paul McCartney - uses a cherry burst Les Paul on stage. He has also used a Les Paul in the studio. He also uses a C-5 in the studio.
- John McLaughlin - has used many different models over the years, including Hummingbird acoustics, Les Pauls, an EDS-1275 doubleneck, ES-335s, Byrdlands, a sunburst dual-pickup Johnny Smith model, and a custom-built ES-345 with mini-humbucker pickups and a different fingerboard.
- Ralph McTell - Uses a Gibson J-45 1948 acoustic guitar as the main instrument in recent live concerts.
- Wes Montgomery - used an ES-175 early in his career; mainly used sunburst and natural-finished Gibson L-5CES's; Gibson currently produces a Wes Montgomery signature L-5CES (single pickup).
- Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy/Skid Row/solo) - uses custom built Gibson Les Paul Standards; regularly uses a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard once owned and widely used by Peter Green during the 60s.
- Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) - Uses a redwood Les Paul in studio and on tour.

- Mike Ness (Social Distortion) - used various Les Paul models over the years, but is best known to wield his Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop.
- Noodles (The Offspring) - Has used several custom Firebird Studios through touring, and in the studio.
- Krist Novoselic (Nirvana) - Used all kinds of Gibson basses, particularly the RD and the Ripper bass.
O
- Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down) - black and maroon Thunderbirds.
- Jack Owens (MK)- Sometimes uses a ES-335 on stage and a Les Paul in the Studio. He is more frequently seen using a Strat or Telecaster, or a Casino. Also has a Hollowbody Les Paul Bass.
- Roy Orbison (MK)- Often is seen with an ebony or wine ES-335 though has been known to use chet atkins model and ebony les paul with bigsby. He is also seen with a gretsch black phoenix/falcon with a gibson super 400 neck with the gibson logo blacked out. Also uses fender telecasters and stratocasters.

- Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin/solo) - Les Paul, has custom Les Paul on the market; also known for the EDS-1275, a double neck version of an SG.
- Joe Pass - used a sunburst ES-175; Epiphone currently produces a Joe Pass signature Emperor model.
- Pata (Tomoaki Ishizuka) (X-Japan, Ra:IN, Dope HEADz) - has used '59 Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Custom
- Les Paul (Lester William Polfus) - the creator of the Gibson Les Paul, uses a custom model.
- Joe Perry (Aerosmith) - has used many Gibson guitars over the years, including Les Pauls, Flying Vs, and Firebirds; has signature Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul models (Boneyard).

- Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) - played Les Pauls, Hummingbird and J-200 acoustics, Flying V's, and Firebirds in the 1960s and 1970s; currently uses black and cherry ES-355s, a Les Paul Standard, sunburst and TV yellow Les Paul Juniors.
- Randy Rhoads - An Antique Ivory Les Paul Custom, with a cream toggle switch and toggle switch plate.

- Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria) - Currently uses variations of the Explorer, a white EDS-1275. Has been known to use Les Pauls and SGs. Plays a Double-neck SG.
- Drew Shirley (Switchfoot) Uses a Gold Gibson Les Paul
- Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) - uses a Les Paul Custom and Les Paul Custemized.
- Slash (Saul Hudson) (Guns N' Roses/Slash's Snakepit/Velvet Revolver) - Les Paul Standards. He also has a signature Les Paul.
- Jesper Strömblad (In Flames) - Uses a Gibson Explorer Voodoo guitar
- Hubert Sumlin - has used a 1956 Les Paul Goldtop for many years; currently uses various Les Pauls and ES-335s.
- John Sykes (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake/Blue Murder) - A 1978 Les Paul Custom is his main guitar.
- Jonathan Schneck (Relient K) Was seen using a Red Gibson SG in the Who I Am Hates Who I've Been Music Video

- Johnny Thunders - Primarily used Les Paul Juniors.
- Pete Townshend (The Who/solo)- Various colored and types of SGs and Les Pauls.
- Ray Toro (My Chemical Romance) - Plays a Epiphone Les Paul. Also owns Epiphone Explorers.
- Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney) - Uses a worn cherry Les Paul Special with humbuckers.
W
- Muddy Waters - used a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop in his early career; also used an Epiphone semi-acoustic guitar for a while.
- Johnny Winter - has used reverse-body Firebirds (sunburst, cherry-red, ivory-finished) for many years, currently uses them for slide guitar; has also used Les Pauls, SGs, and Flying V's.
- Ron Wood (The Rolling Stones) - usually plays Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters, but he has a signature J-200 acoustic; uses a black Les Paul Standard and a custom-built single-pickup L-5S (built for him in the 1970s).
- Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osborne/Black Label Society) - Plays his signature "Bull's Eye" Les Paul Custom, also plays Signature "Buzzsaw" Les Paul Custom

- Angus Young (AC/DC) - Plays an SG. Has a signature SG model.
- Neil Young - uses several Gibson models. Most often a black Les Paul with a Bigsby tailpiece.
