Komárom is a city in Hungary on the right bank of the Danube in the Komárom-Esztergom County. Population: 19600 (2004)

This part of the city of Komárom was formerly a separate suburbian village called Újszőny. It was unified with the historical city of Komárom on the left bank of the Danube only in 1896. As the city center was cut by the newly created border of Czechoslovakia in 1919/1920 (that part was renamed to Komárno), the real development of the south part has just began at that time.
