Fatal Inertia is an aerial combat racing game by Koei for the PlayStation 3 console, due to launch when the console launches in November.

The game will be set during the 23rd century and will place the player in the role of a driver competing in a series of deadly, high-stakes races across a number of diverse locations.

The speed at which the player's 'hovercar' goes is determined by how close it is to the ground.

Most of the racing will take place over land, although screenshots have been released showing the ships going underwater.

What makes this game noteworthy is not only its release with the PS3, but its unique system of combat. All weapons are designed not to destroy opponents outright, but degrade performance through damaging a targeted craft or throwing it off course. This is made possible through a highly sophisticated physics engine, taking full advantage of the PS3's capabilities. Template:Racing-cvg-stub
