List of secondary characters in Code Lyoko
This is a list of secondary characters in the French animated television series Code Lyoko.
Description
These characters have played important parts in single episodes at one point or another, but haven't added any useful details to the story. They are listed by grade below. It should be noted that they have moved up a grade since the start of the show. The grades listed are their current grades. The grades listed on the official site and on various fan sites reflect the grades they started at. Since many of the students have played almost no part in any episode, other than non-speaking appearances, many are not listed. For a complete list of students, see the link at the bottom of the page.
7th Grade
This is the lowest recognized grade in the series.
Milly Solovieff
Milly is one of the two official journalists at Kadic, the other being Tamiya. Like Odd and Ulrich, the two share a dorm room. Milly can be considered the reporter since she is always the one on-camera; however, she once carried sound equipment in her brief appearance in "New Order". The two produce a paper together, and film news-worthy events. How their filming is distributed is not shown. Milly is very interested in journalism and will take any opportunity to find something to report about. She has a big crush on Ulrich and, as seen in "Teddygozilla", she is very sensitive about it.
Tamiya Diop
Tamiya does the camera-work for the school newspaper as well as the film-based media. She's not quite as outspoken as Milly so not much is known about her. She seems just as excited about news as Milly is. Tamiya shares a dorm room with Milly. She and Milly appear in Garage Kids artwork, but not in the five-minute pilot. Their status at the time is indeterminate.
Minor Characters of the 7th Grade
- Xavier Gosselin: Goalkeeper for Kadic's soccer team. Seen at the Techno Party in "Final Mix".
- Mohammed Kantaoui: Named for Islam's last prophet, this Arabic boy is a player on the Kadic soccer team. He was at the dances in "Teddygozilla" and "Final Mix".
- Tristan Brossard: Gave Ulrich directions to his dorm room in "Amnesia". Played soccer for Sissi's team in "Claustrophobia". Is also chased by Kankrelats in "False Start"
- Emilio Rodriguez: This Hispanic boy was seen chatting with Caroline Savorani in "The Chips are Down".
- Sandra Dialo: With three afropuffs, this girl was listed by Odd as a possible lover of Ulrich's and in "Unchartered Territory" she took her turn scolding Aelita for holding up the lunch queue.
8th Grade
Aelita (goes by Aelita Stones), Jeremie Belpois, Odd Della Robbia, and Ulrich Stern are in this grade, as well as Elisabeth Delmas. This grade appears to have more students than the other two put together.
Emily LeDuc
Emily appeared to be a possible alternate love interest for Ulrich in the first season. Tall, dark haired, and generally quiet (but with a mean enough temper when riled) she seems to show interest in Ulrich, but does not chase and stalk him the way Sissi does.
In the episode "Swarming Attack", Ulrich got a love letter that he believed to be from Yumi, causing him to think she loved him, and eventually vice-versa. In truth, Sissi had actually written it as a mean-spirited joke to get Ulrich to take her more seriously. Ulrich told Jeremie and Odd about it, but would not tell them who it was from. He also told them not to tell Yumi about it. While the two speculated, Odd deduced that the secret admirer was Emily. When Yumi caught part of the conversation, Odd was forced to start the rumor that Emily was in love with Jim. Emily gave him a rather nice punch to the cheek when she found out about the rumor, stating that even Kiwi wouldn't recognize him if he started the rumor again.
Later, in the episode "Routine", Ulrich had some problems sorting out his feelings for Yumi. After a shower, he met Emily in the hall. Their conversation led Ulrich to wonder if Emily might be interested in him, so he began talking to her later on. Ulrich and Yumi sort their problems out later in the episode, which seems to end the association. Since then, she has just appeared as a minor character in the second season. She was transformed into a zombie in "Attack of the Zombies", along with pretty much every other student and teacher.
Hervé Pichon
Hervé is one of Sissi's "cronies." Hervé has a personal vendetta against Jeremie because they are academic rivals. He also often seems to have feelings for Sissi; he even suggested that they huddle together for warmth and kiss in "Cold War" (which earned him a prompt slap on the cheek from Sissi). In "Big Bug", while in the garden shed, Hervé pounced on top of Sissi and said that he loved her, falling right on top of her. The meeting had been set up by Odd and Ulrich as a prank on Sissi.
Hervé's face is covered in pimples, which he complains about in "Tip-Top Shape" and gets angry about in "Xana's Kiss" (which starts up a quick fight between him and Nicolas, who seems to be the victor).
In the first season episode "The Robots", he helped the group build a mosquito robot to take down a much bigger robot Xana had manufactured. Like everyone that has helped defeat Xana at one point or another, a return trip removed his memory of the event. He also called Sissi a "lame-o" in "Attack of the Zombies", though only to make sure she wasn't a zombie.
- Note: Hervé's name is often misspelled as "Herb" due to the way it's pronounced in the show. The spelling "Hervé" is the correct spelling as given by the official site for the show.
Naomi N'Guyen
Naomi's only appearance of any real significance was in the episode "Seeing is Believing", when she auditioned for Odd's band, the Pop Rock Progressives. She tried to be the drummer but proved to be less than talented. Odd still liked her, however, preferring to have her play rather than Nicolas. Like much of the school's population, she is seen zombified in "Attack of the Zombies".
Nicolas Poliakoff
Not what you could consider intelligent, Nicolas simply follows Sissi wherever she goes. Despite his stupidity and idiotic behavior, he has a very good knack for drumming, as seen in the episode "Seeing is Believing." In addition, he attempted to update the script of "Romeo and Juliet" for the adaptation of the classic play in the episode "Laughing Fit." He also seems to know a lot about the undead and other supernatural phenomena. He was transformed into a zombie near the end of "Attack of the Zombies."
Romain Le Goff
Romain appears in the episode "Contact" as an actor. He plays the part of Jim in Odd's short film, Natural Grandeur. Jim didn't find the parody all that amusing, however, but he was very pleased with how the portrayal looked on-screen.
Taelia
Taelia was a very mysterious girl, seen only once in the first season episode "The Girl of the Dreams". Upon seeing her, Jeremie began to think that Taelia was in fact Aelita materialized on Earth, but with total amnesia, due to the shock from the materialization process. Being unable to contact Aelita on Lyoko only reinforced this belief. Throughout the episode, Jeremie tried to show his love to her, calling her both "Aelita" and "Taelia." However, despite her similar appearance and similar voice, she was very rude to the group, especially Jeremie and Yumi, seeing them as a very strange (possibly disturbed) group. She even referred to Jeremie and Odd's explanations about Lyoko as "pick-up lines." He also did not believe everyone's claims of Taelia not being Aelita at all.
Jeremie eventually brought her to the factory to protect her from a suit of samurai armor (one of Yumi's family heirlooms) that Xana had possessed. Aelita was in Lyoko the entire time, having been trapped by a Guardian. Taelia ended up leaving the factory and bringing the principal and the police back. After Jeremie wouldn't explain what he was doing to them, the police tried to arrest Jeremie, and almost succeeded. Aelita deactivated the tower and a return trip erased all the events that had taken place. After the return trip, Jeremie finally explained the differences between the two girls, saying that one would have to be blind to think that Taelia was Aelita. It's likely that she's still a student at Kadic, but no mention of her is made after this, nor is she seen on campus.
Theo Gauthier
Featured only once, in the episode "Claustrophobia", Theo takes a liking to Sissi after first meeting her. Sissi reciprocates this liking, provoking Hervé's jealousy and Ulrich's relief. When he wants to join the group, Sissi asks him to mummify the skeleton in the science building. Hervé tries to get him expelled, but Odd and Ulrich are there prevent that, however unintentionally. After being trapped in the cafeteria by one of Xana's attacks, the two reconcile their differences. A return trip erases any traces of this events and some clever manuvering by Odd seems to prevent the relationship from forming in the first place (one of the common situations regarded as "evidence" of Odd's love for Sissi). Theo later appeared in some episodes of the second season, though he doesn't speak.
Minor Characters of the Eigth Grade
- Claire Girard: Claire was seen talking to Sissi and occasionally accompanying her ("Zero Gravity Zone" and "Mister Pück".) She was also mentioned as a possible lover for Ulrich by Odd.
- Heïdi Klinger: This blonde witnessed Jeremie's injury in "False Start" and called Jim "crazy" as a result. Was kissed by XANA-Jeremie ghost in "XANA's Kiss".
- Jeanne Le Bihan: Another blonde who Sissi confided the story of her missing baton to in "Zero Gravity Zone".
- Julien Xao: This Oriental boy was a victim of materialized Kankrelats in "False Start".
- Matthieu Ducrocq: One of Aelita's fans at the DJ Contest in "Final Mix".
- Paul Gaillard: With glasses and a smile on his face, Paul is a commonly featured extra. He was a table dancer in "Plagued". Spoke to Romain Le Goff about an RPG he was playing in "A Great Day". Is in the same science class as Odd, Ulrich and Jeremie. Paul was also a member of the stage crew in "Final Mix".
- Sophie Florenceau: Seen only once in "Mister Pück", Sophie was with Claire and Sissi in the shower area and joined in laughing at Sissis insults of Emily and Aelita.
- Tania Grandjean: A brunette with a taste for black clothing, she sits in the front row of Mrs. Hertz's science class, which she shares with Odd, Ulrich and Jeremie. Tania was visibly unnerved by Odd's lecture on photosynthesis in "A Great Day".
- Thomas Jolviet: A brown haired boy with a preference for black clothing and Tania's desk partner in science class, Thomas shared a similar reaction to Odd's lesson in the aforementioned episode.
- Jean-Baptiste Pujol: Wearing a leather jacket, Jean-Baptiste played goalie (quite unsuccessfully) for Sissi's team in "Claustrophobia. He was at the school formal in "Teddygozilla" and has been seen lounging around the Quad in other episodes. In "Unchartered Territory" he joined Christophe M'Bala and Sandra Dialo in admonishing Aelita for holding up the lunch line.
9th Grade
Aside from Yumi Ishiyama and William Dunbar, most of these students have never been a major part of any episode.
Emmanuel Maillard
In "Seeing is Believing", Emmanuel auditioned for the Pop Rock Progressives, just like Naomi. Yumi called him Mike then. While he was talented with the drums, he didn't make it into the band because he played a heavy metal beat, which was too far away from their more traditional style.
Minor Characters of the Ninth Grade
- Christophe M'Bala: Commonly cut off from reality by his omnipresent headphones and orange headband, Christophe is not the nicest of personalities. He demanded to know what Yumi, Odd and Ulrich were doing in the Boy's Locker Room in "The Robots" and yelled at a confused Aelita in "Unchartered Territory" for holding up the lunchline. In "Final Mix" Christophe was a member of the stage crew with Paul Gaillard and sang a solo for the dancers. He seemed genuinely concerned when Aelita was knocked unconscious by one of XANA's electrical surges.
- Caroline Savorani: Was seen chatting with Emilio Rodriguez in the opening of "The Chips are Down".
- Anaïs Fiquet: Blonde and stern, Anaïs was part of a diva group with Sissi in "Teddygozilla" and raced Yumi in P.E. class one time.
- Priscilla Blaise: With short black hair and a sense of fashion, Priscilla was also part of Sissi's diva group and came in third in the race between her, Yumi and Anaïs.
- Matthias Burrel: With an orange shirt, hippie hair and glasses, Matthias was one of the XANA-Yumi ghost's smooching targets in XANA's Kiss while trying to purchase some cola. Matthias was apparently pleased by the kiss, as he recovers with a slight grin on his face. Other times he is seen with his face buried in schoolwork and is rather studious.
- Maïtena Lecuyer: Yumi said that she was studying mathematics with this girl in "Exploration". Maïtena's appearance closely resembles that of Jeanne Le Bihan (8th grade) and Julie Vigoroeux (6th grade).
Teachers and administration
These are the various management, teachers, and workers at Kadic. Jim Moralés is among them, but is listed separately as he contributes more to the overall plot of the show.
Gaston Lagrange
Gaston is one of the cafeteria workers at Kadic, along with Rosa Petitjean. Since he's almost never seen, it's possible that he does the cooking.
Gilles Fumet
Gilles is the history and geography teacher at Kadic. He is seen rarely, usually as a background character during one episode or another.
Gustave Chardin
Gustave is the art teacher at Kadic. He is seen a couple of times, most notably in the episode "Contact". In that episode, he introduces various short films made by his students. He speaks with a heavy French accent.
Hans Klotz
Hans is the counselor at Kadic. He thinks Jeremie is a genius. He even tries to send him to a school for the gifted. Events conspired in Jeremie's favor to avoid being sent, though his father is still willing to send him to one. In the episode "Plagued", he reveales that he is scared of rats due to some incident in his childhood involving a rat in a closet. He doesn't elaborate any further. During the episode, he refers to himself as Mr. Simone.
Jean-Pierre Delmas
Jean-Pierre is the Headmaster of Kadic. He is also Sissi's spoiling and overaffectionate father, which gives reason for the group (usually Ulrich) to suck-up a little. He is not too strict, but can be if necessary. He's an authority figure to everyone, even the staff.
In the episode "Code: Earth", Jean-Pierre fired Jim for injuring Jeremie, thinking that Jim did it on purpose. A return trip removed the incident, but he still is always on Jim's back.
Michel Rouiller
Michel is the groundskeeper at Kadic. He doesn't appear much, and always gets in the way of one of Xana's attacks when he does. So far, his appearances have been "Swarming Attack" and "Attack of the Zombies".
Mrs. Meyer
Mrs. Meyer is the math teacher at Kadic. Her first name has never been mentioned and no site affiliated with Code Lyoko (official or otherwise) seems to list her as part of the staff. She may be a part-time teacher. Jeremie usually finishes her tests early and does extremely well.
Nicole Weber
Nicole is the principal's secretary. The group has been forced to distract her on occasion while trying to do one thing or another that wouldn't be considered legal. Nicole shares the maiden name of Ulrich's voice actress, Barbara Weber-Scaff.
Rosa Petitjean
Rosa Petitjean is one of the cafeteria workers at Kadic. There's not much to say about her since she doesn't get much screen time, but she's very nice to the kids that she caters for. The episode "Attack of the Zombies" shows that she doesn't react too well to the strange and unexplained, seeing as how she fainted three times at the sight of the zombified school population. She was also possessed by Xana in the episode "Temptation".
Suzanne Hertz
Suzanne Hertz is the science teacher. Her first name was mentioned in the second season. She is probably the most strict teacher at Kadic. On more than one occasion she's made a student look foolish for one thing or another, usually for giving stupid answers to questions. Xana attacks during her class more often than any other class. She also acts as one of the principal's advisors, the other being Jim, who had developed a fancy for her in the second season, despite her age.
Yolande Perraudin
Yolande Perraudin is the school nurse. She is often bewildered by the "afflictions" (caused by Xana) that manage to befall those at Kadic. It is discovered that she is engaged to be married in the episode "Xana's Kiss". In the first season, she was addressed by the name Dorothy. They have since switched to the current name.
Not enrolled at Kadic
These are characters have either played important parts in single episodes or are just regularly seen, but aren't students or faculty at Kadic.
Ellen
Ellen is the anchorwoman for the local news station. She usually appears to announce the strange happenings from Xana's attacks.
Hiroki Ishiyama
Hiroki is Yumi's younger brother, and appears to be around 9 or 10. His first appearance is in the second season episode "Exploration". He wears a yellow sweater similar in design to Jeremie's blue sweater. He is usually seeing playing games on what resembles a Game Boy Advance SP. He often teases Yumi about her relationship with Ulrich, which makes her angry. In spite of that, he mentions that Yumi should go out with Ulrich when Ulrich is protecting her from a materialized Krabe.
James Finson
James Finson is a director who is seen once in the episode "End of Take". His movies bear a striking similarity to the Alien movies by Ridley Scott. He gets very angry whenever someone points this out, though, insisting all his films are unique.
He came to Kadic to film another movie. He chose the factory as the location for it, despite Ulrich's attempts to prevent it. Xana eventually possessed the monster he had made for the movie. Once a time reversion wiped out any memory of the event, Ulrich got him to leave by saying someone had already filmed a movie much like his at that location. Finson then calls his producer, claiming that someone else had come up with the idea, although the producer does not seem to believe him.
John Swamp
John Swamp is a field reporter who is seen during news broadcasts, usually the same ones that Ellen reports on. Unlike Ellen, however, John is right in the middle of the action.
Kiwi
Kiwi is Odd's lovable dog. He boards secretly at Kadic with Odd. Pets are unfortunately not allowed at Kadic, so Kiwi has gotten Odd into trouble on more than one occasion. Kiwi looks like either a Whippet, a Toy Fox Terrier, or a Bull Terrier, but his breed is still under debate.
In the episode "Attack of the Zombies", Kiwi was possessed by Xana. While possessed, Kiwi traveled around the school and bit various students. This caused those he bit to turn into zombies, probably through some sort of fluid-transmitted virus, much like the rats in the episode "Plagued". Like the events of Night of the Living Dead or any similar movie, the infected students moved on to infect others. By the time the attack was stopped, only a few students were left unconverted. Jeremie was bitten, but he was able to hold on long enough to activate a return trip.
Jeremie seems to think of Kiwi as a simple dog instead of a friend (like Odd does). On several occasions he has called the dog "brainless." Examples of this are "Just in Time" and "Final Mix". The others in the group either like Kiwi or do not have a strong opinion of him, as he was sitting on Aelita's lap in "The Key".
Most, if not all, of the Kadic students know about Kiwi, including, but not limited to, Sissi, Tamiya, and Emily. They seem to keep quiet about the dog so Odd doesn't get in trouble.
Kiwi's name may also be spelt 'Kiwee', as that is how it is spelt in his profile on the DVDs.
Peter Duncan
A local criminal responsible for all sorts of crimes (nothing major), Peter Duncan appears in the episode "Common Interest" as Xana's unwilling puppet. Xana recruits him in order to replace the depleted uranium rod used to fuel the supercomputer. He obtains the uranium by stealing it from an armored car being used by military personnel. His Xana-enhanced abilities made the chore an easy one.
Ducan, along with Aelita, fainted several times along the way thanks to the supercomputer's periodic shutdowns as a result of the depleted fuel source. The fuel was replaced in a shotgun wedding collaboration between Jeremie and Duncan. After the supercomputer was refueled and Xana's attack was stopped, the group was able to deliver Duncan to the police discreetly.
Samantha
Seen only once in the episode "Rock Bottom", Samantha is just one of the many girls that Odd has dated over the course of the show. Samantha is slightly different from the rest in that she does not attend school at Kadic. From what little we see of her, we learn that her family is not well off financially. She attempts to steal one of the school's laptops and Odd gets into trouble by covering for her. As a result of a Xana attack, she ends up being brought to the factory. A return trip wipes out any memory of the visit. After the return trip, Jeremie lets her use his computer to keep her from stealing one from the school. She hasn't been seen since that episode.
Thomas Vincent
Thomas Vincent (T.V. for short) is an unseen, but apparently more popular, field reporter. He appears only one time, in the episode "Cold War", to do a documentary on how the schools aren't doing well educating students. He acts like a jerk around to pretty much everyone. The best example of this would be when Jim tried to stop him from getting outside, and he refers to him as an idiot. He is also quick to blame others, as seen when he blames his car accident on the power steering. The only time he acts nice is after he crashes his car into a tree. He's ordered to take Hervé and Sissi back inside by Yumi.
Yumi's parents
Yumi's father is Takeo Ishiyama. Her mother isn't named. Featured in several different episodes, Yumi's parents have a somewhat unstable relationship. In the episode "Laughing Fit", they live apart for a while after a fight. They get back together thanks to the combined efforts of the group. Later on, in the second season, their relationship is more stable, but sometimes is also unstable. Takeo loses his job in the episode "The Chips are Down" (yelling at his wife in front of his kids in the process), but gets a new one in that same episode. His wife is currently working on a dictionary.

Trivia
- Taelia is an anagram of Aelita.
- In the episode "Zero Gravity Zone", Milly mentions that the soccer game that Ulrich plays in is the ninth grade interschool final. Since Ulrich is in the eighth grade, this means that either the team itself is made of students from various grades or it's a mistake in the translation. Since the other students seen are from the same grade as Ulrich, the latter would seem the most likely explanation.
- Everyone in Kadic moves up one grade sometime between the episodes "Final Mix" and "The Key". There is some sort of two-hour exam given in "Final Mix", which was probably a final exam for the previous year. There is also an "End of the Year" dance in the episode "The Key".
- According to the writers of the show, Milly was going to be Jeremie's girlfriend before the creators decided to create Aelita.
