The Trench (novel)
The Trench is a book by author Steve Alten written in 1999. The book continues the adventure of Jonas Taylor, a paleontologist studying the Megalodon. This takes places about 4 years after the first novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror. Jonas has to return the trench in which he first encountered the Megalodon.

Also: A film that portrays a group of young British soldiers on the eve of the Battle of the Somme, the infamous 1916 battle widely considered the worst defeat in British military history. The film paints a picture of the soldiers’ emotional experience in the confines of the trenches, an experience running the gamut from boredom to fear, panic to restlessness. Billy MacFarlane (Paul Nicholls), 17, along with his older brother, Eddie (Tam Williams), has volunteered for service. The whole squad, basically boys dressed as men, depend on the war-hardened Sergeant Winter (David Craig) and the scholarly Lieutenant Hart (Julian Rhind-Tutt) for their survival. When word arrives that the squad will join the first wave of attacks, they all face the same fate.
