Max Gail (born April 5, 1943) is an American actor who has starred in television and film roles. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Grosse Ile, Michigan, Downriver.

Career

Gail is best known for his role as Det. Stan "Wojo" Wojeciehowicz from the TV sitcom Barney Miller. Gail's best known feature film role is in D.C. Cab (1983) as Harold, the owner of a taxi company. He recently had a lead role as Grandpa Jack in the film Tillamook Treasure.

Gail has starred in other TV series, including Whiz Kids (1983) as Llewellan Farley, Jr., and in the short-lived Normal Life (1990). He is preparing to star in the TV series Sons & Daughters (2006).

Gail has made many guest appearances on TV shows, including Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and The Drew Carey Show.

Gail runs Full Circle, a production company which has done documentaries on such subjects as Agent Orange, Native Americans, and nuclear issues.

Personal life

Max Gail survived his first wife, Willie Bier, who died of cancer in 1986. They had a daughter together, India.

He has remarried. He and his wife Nan have two children, Max and Grace, and are also raising Nan's nephew Delondon.
