This is a list of the main recurring characters of the manga/anime series Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. All names start with the original Japanese reading, followed by the title in the American versions (both manga and anime).

BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo

(ボボボーボ・ボーボボ BoBoBōBo BōBoBo) - The cool and incomprehensible hero. Swarthy and musclebound, with a large golden afro and a pair of sunglasses. Takes no hostages and shoots his own friends, when not sacrificing them for the sake of his own well-being. He is called Bo-BoBo for short, and fights with his nose hair using the Hanage Shinken (sometimes "Fist of the Nose Hair", other times "Snot Fou-You"), as well as simply confusing his enemies. His only weakness, which he discovered while visiting the world of Blabsalot, is the fact that he doesn't have as many deadly attacks. He believes that the Fist of the Nose Hair is sacred and that he shouldn't overuse it. His father is a humanoid-like hairball named Tsuyoshi (Pappy in dub). Bo-BoBo directs small "micromovies" in his own movie theatre "Bo-BoBo Gekijou" (Bo-BoBo Theater, but also called other names in the dub). Bobobo is 27 yrs.old.

Episode appearances: 1-76

Beauty

(ビュティ) - Unlike the puns used for many of the characters, she received her name because the manga writer was looking at a video tape of the movie American Beauty when he created her character. A stereotypical teenage manga heroine, she is one of the few sane characters. She has feelings for Gasser, but doesn't say anything about them. She is often exasperated by Bo-BoBo's odd behavior or the behavior or actions of others, usually with the same face. Beauty is 14 yrs. old. She's the only person in the group that doesn't fight, but still criticizes the others' fighting styles. There are a few rare occurrences where she was forced to fight to defend herself, but its only when Bobobo isn't around to protect her.

Relatives:

  • Softon: Brother

Episode appearances: 1-76

Don Patchi/Don Patch/Poppa Rocks

(首領パッチ) - His Japanese name is a pun on "donpachi", the Japanese sound of machine gun fire, and the name of a Japanese confectionery similar to Pop Rocks, which is why he is named "Poppa Rocks" in the English translation of the manga. In the English translation of the anime, he is called Don Patch. He is an orange, round creature. He was the original leader (or "don") of the "Wiggin Tribe" ("Hajikegumi" in Japan), a group of rebels who oppose Emperor Baldy. Don Patch has henchmen named Lil' Rocks (in the English manga), or Ko Patch. Don Patch has a rather strange obsession with wigging out, and it's pretty much what he does best. He can fuse with Bobobo to become several fusion forms including "Bo-BoPatch", "Bo-BoPatchnosuke" (Bo-BoPatchiggler), "Patch-BoBo", and others. Don Patch is typically selfish and conceited, and enjoys hogging the spotlight whenever possible but during the fight against Halon Oni he discovers this from Hanpen. He frequently acts like a girl (usually by the name of "Patches" in the English dub) and/or becomes romantically involved with inanimate objects. Don Patch will sometimes use a Scallion as a weapon, called the "Don Patch Sword". Template:Spoiler After defeating bibibi, Don Patch moves to west germany, where he gets eaten by a bear. Afterwards he is revived by the "snow fairy"(which is really Don Patch dressed as a ballerina) Template:Spoilerend

Relatives:

  • Hatenko: godson

Attacks

  • Transform - Turns into a Shuriken/Ninja Star, a monster ect. and wield their ability.
  • Don Patch Ninja Star attack - After turning into a Shuriken Don Patch attacks the enemy multiple times at high speed.
  • Porcupine Parr - His quills expand (some fans claim he turns into a porcupine) and strike the enemy.
  • Don Patch Sword - Don Patch uses a green onion to attack an opponent. Used against Gechappi, Chuunosuke, Indus Guy
  • Don Patch Hammer - Exactly like Don Patch Sword, only a different name. Used against Gechappi.
  • Becoming Candy - Don Patch turns into candy. Good for fusions.
  • Fist of Bruce Lee - Punches the enemy multiple times. Strongest attack and always defeats the enemy it is used on (Strong enough to defeat even some "Four Heavenly Kings"). Used against Lemon Fizz, Chocolate Munchie, and Kittypoo.

Episode appearances: 1-76.

Heppokomaru/Gasser

(ヘッポコ丸) - The "heppoko" in his Japanese name means "untrained", while "maru" is a common same suffix for a samurai or other type of warrior. He uses "Fart True Fist" (Onara Shinken) as his martial art style. In the English Dub he uses "The Fist of The Back Wind." Another "sane" person like Beauty. He is in love with Beauty, but he doesn't dare to tell it to her. The collar around his neck regulates his power. If removed, he ends up thinking he's a baby and goes out of control with his gas powers. He's also commonly seen with a rose in his mouth during this phase. Beauty's nickname for him is "He-kun" (in American version, "Gas-Can"). Gasser is 16 yrs. old. Template:Spoiler After the defeat of Bibibi, he is tricked by pokomi into thinking that bobobo's group is evil, and then becomes Leader of Neo A-Block. Through the Neo Maruhage Empires intense training he destroys his collar and learns to control his baby powers in his normal form. He re-joins the group after being defeated by celestial denbo-chan. Template:Spoilerend

  • Fist of the Back Wind - Lets out a huge fart. Used against Geha the Gale, Katsu, Loincloth Lloyd, and Infinite Shoot
  • Gas Grenade(s) - Throws grenades of gas. Used against Loincloth Lloyd

  • United Stinkin Jelly Jet Ski - Gasser rides Jelly Jiggler as a sled while using his attacks.
Episode appearances: 1-3, 5-6, 9-76

(ところ天の助 Tokoro Tennosuke) - His Japanese name is a pun on "tokoroten", a type of very cold jelly, thus his ability to shape himself into any form. His name in the English dub is probably a trademark-friendly reference to Jell-O Jigglers, a snack made from fruit juice and powdered gelatin. The captain of the A Block division of Hair Hunters (or "Hair Hunter Troop A") also uses the fighting style "Shivering True Fist" (Purupuru Shinken) . In the English dub, it is known as the "Fist of the Wobble-Wobble", and in the English manga, it is called "Fist of the Shakey-Shake". By the time he officially joins Bo-BoBo's team, he possesses a hankerchief with the Japanese hiragana for "nu" (ぬ) written all over it (ぬのハンカチ, the "hankerchief of 'nu'") which he uses to wipe away tears at first, but eventually leads to an all-out "nu" obsession (By contrast he utterly despises the hiragana character "ne" [ね]!) He assists Bo-BoBo and Don Patch in the "BoBo Patchinosuke" (Bo-BoPatchiggler) fusion, and can separately fuse with Bo-BoBo to become "TenBoBo". Jiggler/Tennosuke will sometimes use a Daikon radish like a sword. In his childhood he was Bo-bobo's friend and wanted Bo-bobo to stop his evil self (if it meant being thrown onto a Ferris wheel, which happened). He was called "Jelly Roll" by Bo-bobo. According to Bo-Bobo and Don Patch, his body tastes like a lychee.

Attacks:

  • Fist of the Wobble-Wobble.
  • Jiggling Like Jelly - Shoots small chunks of Jelly from his body. Used against Rice.
  • Slippery Snake Heads - Jelly-like snakes come out and attack the opponent. Used against Bobobo/Don Patch
  • Jelly Jiggler Rocket - Flames burn at the bottom of his feet causing him to fly.
  • Fresh Jelly Roll - An odd attack in which Jelly curles up on a plate and while the enemy is eating him he will attack them while yelling "SNACK TIME'S OVER". Used against Captain Battleship's Special Forces.
  • Maximum Speed 190 miles per hour - Jelly Jiggler slides like a sled at 190mph.
  • "nu" Hankerchief Shield - Jelly Jiggler uses his hankerchief as a shield. Used against Captain Ishida, Indus Guy
  • General Jelly Jiggler trampoline - Jelly Jiggler turns into a trampoline.
  • Jelly Jiggler Magnum - Bo-BoBo punches him in the back, causing fist-sized lumps of his body to fire at the enemy.
  • Double Dragon Tusk Killing attack - Both he and Don Patch will become Tusked Dragons and attack the enemy.
Episode appearances: 1, 12-21, 25, 27-76

Softon

(ソフトン Sofuton) - His head resembles soft ice cream (hence his name). He was the guardian of the "Jet Black Room" of C-Block's "Aitsuhage Tower" who uses "Babiron (Babylon) Shinken" (in the English dub, he fights by channeling the power of "the Goddess Blabs-A-Lot", a not-too-obvious pun: Blabs-A-Lot = Babble on = Babylon). Perhaps not coincidentally, the shape of his head also resembles the typical manga depiction of poop. In promotional color artwork for the manga, his head is colored brown, whereas in the anime, it is colored pink (which is not a U.S. TV edit). He allies with Bo-BoBo's team after Beauty is kidnapped, but doesn't officially join until the battle with Halekulani. In many episodes, Softon's "poop" jokes are directly copied from the manga. Softon is 25 years old. During a battle in the Hair Kingdom against a Babylon assasin, it is finally revealed that he is Beauty's older brother, explaining the connection he consistantly has to her.

Relatives:

  • Beauty: Sister

Attacks:

  • Sharp fists of Blabs-a-Lot: Softon slices/jabs the enemy with his index and little fingers thus summoning Goddess Blabs-a-Lot.
  • Vanilla Blaster - Is consumed in a green aura and charges at the enemy. Used against Captain Battleship's Special Forces.
  • The Hard Pack of Soft swirl - Performs powerful and unexpected hand-to-hand attacks.

Episode appearances: 7-8, 10, 17-21, 26

Hatenko

(破天荒 Hatenkō) - A member of Don Pachi's 'Hajikegumi' gang. A common mistranslation lists him as Don Patch's godson. His name means "unprecedented" and he wields the "Kagi Shinken" ("Fist of the Key"). Like Bo-BoBo, he is one of the few survivors from the Kingdom of Hair. He attacks enemies with keys and is obsessed with the courage and actions of his "boss", Don Patch. (In the English dub, he calls him merely "The Don") According to various websites, Hatenko is 24 years old.

Relatives:

  • Don Patch: godfather

Attacks:

  • LOCK - Inserts a small key in the enemy's heart then "Locks" it thus turning him/her into stone for a limited time. Used against Boss Bob.
  • Keys open - Hatenko "opens" himself (making him stronger) causing a bright light that blinds the enemy to appear then he will "Lock" his/her whole body.

Episode appearances: 21-27, 33, 35

Torpedo Girl

(魚雷ガール Gyorai Gāru) - Originally OVER, one of the Bo-BoBo team's enemies, she is the last remaining member of the legendary Joke Killers (伝説のボケ殺し, Idiot Killers in original version) thought to have died in a mime incident. As a Joke Killer, she attacks any form of "lame" joke and the one who performed it. Her catchphrase is, "And that's because....I'm a torpedo!" (なぜなら私は魚雷だから). Rather than a normal laugh, she repeats the word 'torpedo'. She fights using the "Fist of Horrible Bloody Murder". It is said that she was Hatenko's ex-girlfriend, but is now insanely in love with Softon.

Relatives:

  • Land Mine Dandy - Father

Attacks:

  • Torpedo Away - Rushes at high speed towards the enemy. Used against Bobobo
  • Torpedo Whirlwind - Simply jumps in the air and performs multiple spin kicks at high speed. Used against Bobobo/Don Patch/Jelly Jiggler.

Episode appearances: 22, 33-35

Dengaku Man

(田楽マン Dengaku Man) - The name is connected to "Dengaku", a snack food/appetizer that is usually a firm tofu with a miso glazing served on a skewer (in other words, "grilled tofu dipped in miso on a stick"), which happens to be his favorite food. Dengakuman is the "cute mascot character" of Bo-BoBo. At one time, the little white guy was the head of the Z-Block Hair Hunters, the most powerful of the Hair Hunting blocks. His major concerns in life are making people eat dengaku and making as many friends as possible and even though he gains friends some of them still ignored by them. It could be noted that he has an extremely strong resemblance to a baby chao from the Sonic the Hedgehog game series. His trademark line, "We'll make 'em eat grilled tofu dipped in miso on a stick!" is a pun much of the American demographic won't understand, but is still used in the English-language anime nonetheless. Dengaku man can be violent at times, but strangely, he isn't bipolar. Dengaku Man actually claims that he is a dog. He can fuse with Bo-BoBo to become the blonde magical girl singer Denbochan. Dengaku Man is 5 yrs. old (35 in dog years, that is if he's a real dog).

Relatives:

  • Unnamed Dog: Mother
  • Unnamed Pup 1: 1st Brother
  • Unnamed Pup 2: 2nt Brother
  • Unnamed Pup 3: 3rd Brother
  • Unnamed Pup 4: 4th Brother
  • Unnamed Pup 5: 5th Brother
  • Unnamed Pup 6: 6th Brother

Attacks:

  • Super Dengaku Punch - A charged up punch. Used against a cage to free Bobobo and his friends.
  • Double Super Dengaku Punches By Accident - Dengaku Man throws himself at an opponent. Used against Indus Guy.
  • Dengaku Honey Butter Cannon Blast - Dengaku Man Spills out of a cannon, covered with honey butter. He claims his 'advertising company' paid him a bonus to do it.
Episode appearances: 16, 19, 24-26, 31-

Serviceman

(サービスマン) - A recurring character within the Bo-BoBo world whose entire body is covered by a giant sheet outside his arms, legs, and a thin strand of hair similar to the depiction of Chinese martial artists. He attacks by lifting the sheet, exposing parts of his body too controversial to publish or broadcast (that's considered flashing), or by slamming said parts into his enemies. Serviceman first appears working for Gunkan ("Captain Battleship"), but eventually assists Bo-BoBo with an attack here or there against most of the enemies he faces later on. Heppokomaru ("Gasser") in particular can't stand him and usually smashes him away when he uses his schtick on him. Because he appears too innocent-looking in the manga, the anime version of Serviceman has bushy eyebrows and a goatee to give him an older appearance. In the USA edition Serviceman's part is cut out almost entirely. His role for Battleship was minor and we don't see him again until he's perched atop the tank at Z-Block, and even then his scene has been rendered into an innocent still. He made another appearance hanging from the roof of Lord OVER's headquarters, in episode 33 where he is nearly decapitated by OVER, and then again during the fight with Torpedo Girl, where surprisingly his flash scene was kept in the dub.

Episode appearances: 18, 25-26, 30, 33, 35

King Nosehair

Another recurring character from Bo-BoBo's world. He had been dormant for five hundred years, but finally awoke within Bo-BoBo's nose. But after he arose, Bo-BoBo cut him off. After that, he decided to do one thing before he died: go cycling. After that incident, though, King Nosehair is constantly seen whenever Bo-BoBo summons the power of Bo-BoBo World, both assisting and bothering him and Don Patch with their wild activities. (He is not to be confused with another "BaBaBa-Ba Ba-BaBa", who is one of Bo-BoBo's older brothers revealed in the "New Hair Kingdom" arc of the manga)

Episode appearances: 4, 8, 20, 35

Gaoh

A new member of Bo-bobo's team in Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, he is a Koala raised by..... fish. Gaoh is still unknown to the world of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo but what is known is that he will fight with..... trees.

Relatives: Fish

Senokaka Namerō

A former member of the Neo Crome Dome Empire that whants revenge for being kicked off the empire so he befriends Pokomi and Joines Bo-bobo's team to do so and will not give up until he douse.

Pokomi

Gasser's lovable little sister who serves as his replacment on Bo-bobo's team in Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, though she maybe kind, she has an evil force that will turn her to the Neo Crome Dome Empire known as the Black Soul but can she return to her sweet loveable self again.

Relatives:

  • Heppokomaru/Gasser: Brother

The Others

  • Game Boy Pig/Piggie(ゲームボーイブタ) - Another recurring character the manga consistently throws in, it's a small pig that's consistently playing Game Boy video games every time it shows up. The source of the joke comes from the first time Bo-BoBo tries a fusion maneuver during his first fight with Don Patch, where it ends up having him playing against the pig due to the fusion's result. Game Boy Pig shows up usually when we least expect it, either in a crowd or doing something connected with Bo-BoBo's antics.
  • Pickles(つけもの Tsukemono) - A yellow dill pickle who idolizes Bo-bobo and like Beauty, wanted to join Bo-bobo but unlike Beauty, Pickles was not given that honor. The Narrator claims he was written off the show but Pickles makes short cameos through out the show. During the climactic "Hair Kingdom" arc of the series, it turns out Pickles was left behind so he could spy on Bo-bobo's brother, Bibibi-bi Bi-bibi. But while everyone was happy for his return, Don Patch ends up killing him because he doesn't even know what Pickles is! (Note: Pickles is one of the few characters introduced before Don Patch and thus one of the few he never knew)
  • Bububu-bu Bu-bubu - Bo-bobo's sister who bears great resemblance to Denbo and is the master of "Fis of The Armpit Hair" who loves her brother Bo-bobo and helped him at some point of the series. She has a crush on Don Patch.

Relatives:

  • Pappy/TUYOSHI: Father
  • Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo: Brother
  • Bababa-ba Ba-baba: Brother
  • Bibibi-bi Bi-bibi: Brother
  • Bebebe-be Be-bebe: Brother
  • Landmine Dandy - The father of torpedo Girl, and though his daughter hates idiots, Dandy as dumb as Bobobo, Don Patch, and Tenosuke combined. He has living living baloons tied on his head and he is the master of "Fist of the Landmines".

Relatives:

  • Torpedo Gal: Daughter
  • Narrator - A never seen character who, like almost everyone else, is crazy and sometimes talks during the show and mostly has the last line at the end of the episodes.
