Melina Almodóvar
Melina Almodovar,(born Ilsa Melina Almodovar Sanchez, June 3, 1979 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is a Puertorican salsa soul singer/ songwritter, dancer, and entertainer.
Biography
Almodovar is credited for iniciating the first salsa band to ever come out of the South of the United States "Orquesta Caliente" started a few years after her mother and her relocated to Memphis, Tennessse after her father's death in Puerto Rico in 1990. In 2003 Melina recorded her first cd " Rumba's Salsa Soul Delight" a collection of songs that represent Melina's upbringing from traditional puertorican salsa to soul oriented pieces that reflect the new generation of latinos in the United States . in 2004 Melina relocated again to Miami to record with Ruben Blades and the group "Editus" in the process she became the featured perfomer at Mangos Tropicla Cafe in South Beach, Miami.
