End of Fashion are a rock band from Perth, Western Australia. After performing at SXSW they were picked up by EMI/Capitol records for a worldwide distribution contract.

They've performed at Homebake, JJJ's One Night Stand and Home and Hosed festivals as well as the Come Together festival. They've also appeared on the TV show, Rove Live twice. They recently appeared at the Falls Festival in Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania and this year (2006) they made their first Big Day Out appearance.

On the 25th August 2005, End of Fashion released their self titled, debut album.

The band name 'End of fashion' is the aim and moral of the band members. Quoted by Justin Burford “I want to break down the walls - within that context, that image, we can do anything we want no matter whether it’s super cheesy or punk, I want to kill fashion, see the end of it.”

Band Trivia

  • The band has several ties to other Perth bands: Justin and Rodney are both ex-members of The Sleepy Jackson and Justin is dating Katy Steele, lead singer of Little Birdy and sister of The Sleepy Jackson's frontman. Nick's cousin Olga Hermanniusson plays bass in the unclassifiable Perth indie rock band Snowman.
  • The name of the band came from Justin's mother
  • The album was recorded in Oxford, Mississippi and produced by Dennis Herring who's produced for bands such as Modest Mouse and Elvis Costello
  • The album features Katy Steele on the track Oh Strain
  • Due to a wrist injury sustained during the album tour, Nick was out of commission for a few of the shows. Ex-drummer for the band, Mike 'Hobbzee' Hobbs filled in.

Criticisms

End of Fashion have been criticised for copying the guitar riff from Pixies' Where Is My Mind? for the song O Yeah.

In a review, Jonathon Miller wrote 'End of Fashion are having no problem appealing to the 95% of people that haven’t heard (and still remember) the Pixies’ ‘Where Is My Mind?’ and have never experienced a truly exciting live show, and if that’s what the band is aiming for, then they are a complete success.'

In some of their later live shows, Justin Burford has taken to inserting lyrics from the Pixies' song at the end of "O Yeah", as a tongue-in-cheek move against the critics and on occasion has played the entire "Where Is My Mind" breaking straight into "O Yeah".
