"State of the World" was a song released by Janet Jackson only to radio in 1991. The song talked of many world issues including homelessness, teen pregnancy and orphanage. The song reached #5 on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay charts. Had it been released as a single, Jackson would've been the only artist to have eight songs off one album (Rhythm Nation 1814) reached the Top 5 on the Hot 100 singles chart.
