The made-up word fhqwhgads is a stock phrase stemming from three short Homestar Runner cartoons.

The first involves the character Strong Bad receiving email from a person going by the name of "fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf" which Strong Bad shortened to "fhqwhgads". The email simply stated "i love u", and some believe incorrectly the "name" was really the raw code for the I Love You virus. However, a more likely explanation is that its origins are similar to that of Spock's first name; while never mentioned on screen, it was referred to in at least one non-canonical publication as "Xtmprszntwlfd", where the author typed randomly on the keyboard.

The second, a music video ostensibly produced by (read: powered by) The Cheat for Strong Bad's song "Everybody to the Limit", also features this name for humorous effect. The song itself has a marked resemblance to Rapper's Delight by The Sugarhill Gang.

The third involves Strong Bad receiving a request by "Sibbie" to write a song about her, as he did about fhqwhgads. Strong Bad remarks about how fhqwhgads is properly spelled and mocks frequent misspellings of the word. A secret segment at the end of the short features Homestar Runner and Coach Z similarly butchering the pronunciation of fhqwhgads, while Strong Mad finally manages to correctly pronounce "Douglas."

Much like "all your base are belong to us", this random word has become an in-joke in fan circles.

Developers of the popular MMORPG, Everquest, pay homage to Homestar Runner by naming an in-game monster "Cursecaller Fhqwhgads." http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=18067

Fhqhwgads is pronounced [fəˈhugwəˌgɑdz] (in the International Phonetic Alphabet). During the music video, Strong Bad also uses several variants of this pronunciaton: [fəˈhuwəˌgɑdz], [fəˈhuwəˌgɑz], [fəˈhʊwəˌgɑz].
