Saturday Night Wrist is the eagerly awaited 5th studio album from rock band Deftones. The album will be released on Maverick Records on October 3rd 2006.

Title

Confirmation of the album's title came on July 11th after many months of speculation from fans. "Saturday Night Wrist" is used to describe a medical condition, also known as "saturday night palsy." Chino said in an early 2005 interview that he had heard a story about a girl that had passed out with her head on her arm, and when she woke up she lost all feeling in it. That may be the story behind the album title.

Band member's thoughts

  • "It's far more aggressive than, you know, our last few records, I'd say. I think we kinda just went in this time and just started writing, and obviously, all the stuff that came out was just way aggressive. That's what kind of made it fun. It was weird being out in Malibu, which is like a sunny place, a happy place, and we just started making some straight evil music. We've spent a lot of time going into it and making it something special, we've spent a lot more time on it than on our last record so it's going other places" - Chino Moreno
  • "Actually, if you look at our last record, I refer to it as 'Dark Days' because that's basically what it was. It's kind of an incomplete record from my viewpoint. I think it's a good record with a lot of good songs but the new album, from start to finish, is a very complete record and has all of the extremes that we like. I'd say it's kind of hard." - Abe Cunningham
  • "This will be our last record. There's nothing left to say for us as a band, you know what i mean?. We've been through a lot of fights in the last few years and this one was the hardest, especially for Stephen (Carpenter, the guitar player) and I."- Chino Moreno

Collaborations

Confirmed collaborations on the record include Annie Hardy from Giant Drag on the song 'Pink Cell Phone' and Serj from System of A Down.
