Cybil Bennett is a is a fictional character of the PlayStation video game Silent Hill and the film of the same name. Template:SH character

Background from the Game

Template:Spoilers Cybil Bennett is a police officer from Brahms, a town neighboring Silent Hill. She was sent to investigate her precinct's lack of communication with the Silent Hill police and was drawn into the strange world of the town. She quickly befriends Harry Mason and helps him to find his daughter.

As she is the only character not inexorably vital to the plot line, her fate can change due to the player’s actions during the game. As with James/Laura in Silent Hill 2, it seems that the monsters may only be part of the central character's experience (except for Kaufmann who identifies with them and is seen wrestling with a claw finger in a pool hall in the resort); Cybil implies she has seen no monsters, although she does acknowledge that the roads leading away from town are unusable, along with her police radio and the local telephones, and near the end of the game she is attacked by a parasite, similar to those found infecting the staff of Alchemilla Hospital. Her fate depends on Harry's actions.

In the Japan only Silent Hill: Play Novel, Cybil is given a larger part in the story. It seems that originally in the game, Cybil was to be a second playable character. What reason this was dropped is unknown, but what is certain is that players taking Cybil's route in the game receive quite a twist ending regarding her fate. In the scenerio, Cybil does not survive her crash in the beginning, and doesn't yet realize that she is dead. However, due to her dutiful nature she stays in Silent Hill with Harry in order to help him find his daughter. When Harry and the new infant leave Silent Hill, Cybil realizes she can't leave with them. She is then shown flashes of her own funeral...and the truth. Upon a touching last discussion with the remaining spirit of Alessa, Cybil bids good luck to Harry and the newly reborn Cheryl/Alessa, and disappears from Silent Hill and our world in general to whatever awaits us after life. A touching and tragic ending, it is nonetheless uncertain as of now whether this is a canon ending.

Silent Hill movie

Template:Spoilers Cybil, played by Laurie Holden, is a gruff, but dedicated police officer from the nearby town of Brahams. Years earlier, Cybil followed a man into Silent Hill and rescued the boy he kidnapped after the boy was dropped down a mineshaft. Now, after pulling a suspicious Rose over, and then engaging in a high-speed car chase with her, Cybil finds herself trapped in Silent Hill's alternate dimension. Cybil joins Rose on her search for Sharon, a mission that ultimately costs her her life when she is executed by the Order's fanatics.

As Rose nears her goal at the Brookhaven Hospital, Cybil is beaten within an inch of her life with lead pipes by a small group of miners who belong to the Order. This order is given by their spiritual leader, Christabella. Cybil fights off the fanatics just long enough so that Rose can enter the hospital elevator and continue her mission. Later Cybil is taken back to the Order's church and burned alive for aiding the "witches". She meets this horrible end in front of Sharon and the Order.
