Dallas Christian College ( DCC ) is a four year undergraduate institution based in Farmers Branch, Texas. affiliated with the Christian Church.

Mission

Educating and Mentoring Students to Be People of Influence, Under God’s Influence, For a Life of Influence

History

On May 10, 1949 Vernon Newland met with forty concerned Texas church leaders to discuss establishing a Bible college in the Dallas area to train men and women for the ministry. Dallas Christian College opened for classes in Downtown Dallas on September 12, 1950. Growing, over the years, DCC has moved twice. DCC now stands in Historic Farmers Branch, Texas. The school has grown much and has trained over two thousand students for the ministry.

Atmosphere

Being, a smaller school allows for a much stronger Christian Atmosphere. Students are known by name, by nearly every staff member. Students so often fade into the crowds at bigger schools. DCC classes are held in a discipleship format. Students are free to question the professor and discuss things when needed. No subject is closed for discussion. Teachers are willing to openly discuss anything i.e. Extraterrestrials, the Occult, Dinosaurs, the Priory of Sion, etc... In other words anything and everything is an open topic. Students are generally very friendly and help in their churches. Most students would not even second guess a chance to help someone in need.

Staff

The staff is very down to earth. They are willing to talk to their students as though they are equals. When students need help in class, with a church project, or even in daily life the staff is always more than willing to help. The staff at DCC is involved in their church and their community. The “real world” of ministry is a daily thing for them.

Community

Every traditional student is required to take a double major in all of the degrees offered. Students will graduate with a degree in Bible along with their chosen degree. This reflects the college’s conviction that knowledge of Scripture is basic to education. Chapel is also considered mandatory with very few exceptions. Each semester a student is enrolled fulltime they must be taking a Bible course. Students living on campus are required to attend a weekly small-group Devotions, where the students can really share their true feelings. The Christian Community is a difficult one to keep pure. DCC does whatever they can to keep it.

Athletics

The DCC Crusaders do their best every year while showing true sportsmanship at all cost. DCC has both men’s and women’s basketball and soccer and women’s volleyball. There are also plans for future sports at DCC.

Concert Choir

The DCC Concert Choir is highly acclaimed wherever they sing. They go on an annual choir tour where they sing at community churches across the country. In 2006 they joined the SMU Meadows Choir to sing at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.

Quote from the President

Dallas Christian College has been a place where men and women have come to dream about their places in the kingdom...it has been a place where they were actually equipped to fulfill those dreams -President Dustin D. Rubeck
