Crotch

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by FreplySpang (talk | contribs) at 13:03, 1 August 2006 (Not sure we really need the bit about trousers, but at least it should be specific; not all clothes are trousers). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

A crotch can be any region or an object, where a trunk splits into two or more limbs. This can include branching regions of trees, buildings, diagrams, animals, etc. In particular the crotch is the region of the human body between the legs where they join the torso. It is the area containing the genitals. As such, it is considered one of the intimate parts.

In tailoring, the crotch is important for fitting trousers properly. One of the important measurements for clothing size is the inseam leg which is the distance from the crotch to where the trousers are normally worn e.g. ankle.

Bark inclusion can occur at the crotch of a tree. When the bark of touching limbs of the tree is within the tree it is called bark inclusion.
