NOTE TO ADMINISTRATORS: Please consider that this is the IP address of the University of Auckland and as such is shared by hundreds of computers around the campus. Blocking this IP address means the possibility blocking other, innocent, Wikipedians who are trying to use the site (like me!) -- PageantUpdater

Note also one other University of Auckland IP: 130.216.191.84
Attention:

This IP address, 130.216.191.184, is registered to the University of Auckland and is shared by multiple users who are students, professors etc at the university. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts should be made to contact the university to report abuse.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

If you continue to vandalise this page while blocked, I will protect the page so you can't edit here either. Thanks, Gwernol 02:15, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, its very clear that you don't care at all about the legitimate users from Auckland who you have got blocked. This page is now protected to prevent further vandalism. Gwernol 02:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As they say in the movies, "oh be-have". Seriously, though, we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so don't make joke edits. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write whatever you want (as long as it's not offensive).
