Wow! neat idea. Not a best rock list like Rentastrawberry did but a "what you listen to" list. Well done. ++Lar: t/c 17:41, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

- I've heard "nonstop violence" by Apop Berzerk and possibly the other one. I liked the few songs I heard from them. Weird story behind that actually--a now former friend of mine really liked them and had me listen to some of their stuff. She was crazy though, ended up stalking me and becoming bulimic because she thought I wouldn't go out with her since she was slightly pudgy. Honestly, the whole eating disorder thing was way more of a turn-off than her weight ever was. The scary thing was I almost did ask her out, before finding out about all that stuff, then I stayed as far away from her as possible. Anyway, I've heard and like both Dresden Dolls ones, since they're off the same cd (I also really like "Slide", "Missed Me" and "Truce", although it's quite long). I've heard a few songs by KMFDM but I don't know if that was one of them, but they're alright. I've heard "The Hand that Feeds" by NIN, but I'm not sure about the other one. I don't really like them too much (that girl really likes NIN too). The Ungovernable Force 03:32, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I must say, I didn't expect to hear about stalking when I asked that question. :) Although, that was definitely worth the read - how did you end up escaping the girl, by the way? Most of my list was, strangely enough, given to me by my gothic older brother when I was the ripe old age of ten; I'm the only person I know who's been listening to gothic/industrial rock since the fourth grade. :P I do really like the Dresden Dolls, though, which I only found out about last year. I should maybe buy their new CD... RandyWang (raves/review me!) 06:46, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have a strange love for the Dresden Dolls. I mean, everything I listen to is overtly political, usually really aggressive punk. I first heard them on a punk radio show that played Girl A and then I heard Coin-op Boy on the same station during regular airtime. I had a gift card to tower so I got their cd. And although it is nothing like the rest of the stuff I listen to, I find that I really like it. I love the darkness of it, along with the occasional aggressive outbursts and Amanda Palmer gives one of the nicest vocal deliveries period. The diversity of sound is also really nice. I have a soft spot in my heart though for dark gloomy music, I just don't listen to it much. I just remembered though, I'm going to switch Half Jack to Bad Habit, because that song is actually a lot better. They're my guilty pleasure--the one relatively apolitical band that I love. I also feel bad because they're so popular, but they are still sorta underground. I really want to hear their cover of War Pigs though, since I really like that song and it is political.

- As for the girl, she got tired of me, plus I just avoided her. She actually did similar things to other people too (male and female). I was talking to an ex-girlfriend of hers after the fact and she said "yeah (Name removed to protect the guilty) was the biggest mistake of my life". Basically, she was really clingly to lots of people and once she stopped obsessing over me, she found someone else, plus I no longer go to that school and I live at least 30 minutes away from her now. Actually, even her leaving me alone was pretty freaky. I used to have long hair back then and there was this college student in town who also had long hair and was 4 or 5 years older than me (I was in high school at the time). A lot of people thought we were brothers (I had at least half a dozen people ask if I was related to this kid, a few of them before I ever even met him myself). Anyways, soon after I made it clear to her that I wasn't going to go out with her, she ended up going out with him. What's even weirder is that one of my ex-girlfriends later went out with him too. Another thing that's really funny is how I first found out she liked me. She was in my room and she let me go through one of her notebooks (I don't remember what we were looking for) and I flipped to a page that had my first and last name written over and over again in the shape of a heart. She yelled "Oh shit, you weren't supposed to see that!", which kinda upset my mom. Then she hastily left. That was the day she found out where I (formerly) lived. Well, enough about my personal life in high school. The Ungovernable Force 06:23, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I can't say that wasn't an enjoyable (if slightly disturbing) read - high school is such fun, no? :) Sadly, I'm still stuck there until the end of the year (coincidences aplenty: my high school accreditation ends on my birthday, the same day as the PS3's international release - woo!), but I'm lucky enough never to have been stalked. Although, come to think of it, my circle of friends certainly do seem to enjoy going out with each other, swapping partners all the time. Hmmm.
- And yes, the Dresden Dolls really are that special kind of awesome. Generally, as you may have picked up from the rest of my listing, I'm into gothic/industrial rock, but for that group I was perfectly happy to make an exception. I really do love the intensity of Girl Anachronism, though. Man, I wish I could sing like that. :( RandyWang (raves/review me!) 08:28, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm really glad I was reminded about the Dresden Dolls. I listened to them after putting up that post last night and it really made me feel better--I got rejected by a girl I did like yesterday. But she was nice about it and we're still friends at least. That is one of the best cd's to listen to when you're depressed (it's helped me out a few times now). You hear that people? Don't waste your money on prozac which can cause sexual dysfunction, nervous tics and possible suicidal tendencies, just listen to the Dresden Dolls :) And good luck surviving the rest of the year, high school can be crazy. The Ungovernable Force 05:40, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear you were rejected, man. :( At least you have some good music to listen to - that kind of thing can really help. I really should buy that CD... But yes. Thanks for wishing me luck, by the way: I had to completely rewrite my nine-month History Extension assignment over the weekend, which was due today, so I'm pretty glad for a chance to rest now. But then, I have exams coming up in a fortnight... damnit. Time to crack out the Dresden Dolls. :( RandyWang (raves/review me!) 10:26, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've never heard of the Dresden Dolls (maybe I should read about them—perhaps the page on our own encyclopædia), but if they can cheer you up after being rejected—kindly or unkindly—they must be pretty good. The one and only Cliff 14:54, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Some songs do that to a person, I can't say I get it for "Rule Britannia" or "God Save the Queen", but Woody Guthrie's music can get me like that. Not just the one I put, but "A Picture from Life's Other Side" too, singing them at night in the middle of nowhere walking down a road in the rain at the top of your voice and out of tune impresses something upon yourself. Oh, and David Rovics', "I remember Warsaw" gets me too — but then on the other hand, there's stuff like the Dead Kennedys which all but makes me laugh out loud — and sometimes even does that :) - FrancisTyers · 00:04, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

- I like that idea - it's an interesting concept. Now, since we'd be counting users who all share favourite songs/artists, would it then be possible to list those users all together on a page? I'm imagining that this list could grow pretty large over time ("OMGXBOXHUGE", if you will), so it'd probably be quite handy to be able to see all the other users that like a particular artist or song - since this is focused on learning about other Wikipedians anyway. Would this work and be as interesting as I imagine, or just cross-referencing hell? (For reference, I listed the songs that I've loved ever since I've heard them - "Temple of Love", for instance, has been there since I was eight). RandyWang (raves/rants) 14:50, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm just wondering ... what songs do you all think would be appropriate for my soundtrack based on my on-wiki actions and personality? Don't be shy now! --Cyde↔Weys 23:48, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, you can start with "I fought the law" cover by the Dead Kennedys. (in reference to your "Rouge Clinic") :)) - FrancisTyers · 00:07, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Wait, are you calling him a KKK member? [1] How about Search and Destroy by Iggy Pop and the Stooges (in reference to userboxes and vandals)? The Ungovernable Force 05:52, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Haha nope! - FrancisTyers · 08:07, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Don't be shy? Then I have to say Welcome to the Jungle. You do so much round here that your contributions would be pretty hard to nevigate ;) Can't wait to see what you do put up. Thε Halo Θ 10:12, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say Sideways by Santana is a natural candidate for your Soundtrack, Cyde ;) Phaedriel ♥ The Wiki Soundtrack!♪ - 13:34, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Hrmmm, maybe something by Rage Against the Machine? --Cyde↔Weys 06:46, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Or, conversely, Worship The Lords by Lords of Acid? :) RandyWang (raves/review me!) 07:56, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Haha, their song "Sex Bomb". - FrancisTyers · 11:24, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Wasn't that Tom Jones? :S Iolakana|T 18:12, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Tom Jones did a song called "Sex Bomb", but Lords of Acid also did a song by the same title. They are not related as far as I am aware... - FrancisTyers · 18:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, ok! Iolakana|T 18:28, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Lords of Acid version is a classic, as is another of their songs, "Rover Take Over." Oh man, I love those guys. ;) RandyWang (raves/review me!) 20:56, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Vanity?
Is vanity allowed here? I'm pondering whether to list my own band or not. (If we're lucky, we might have an article here in the next month.) Grandmasterka 22:44, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- If your band is among your favourite music, sure why not :) I've got a couple of bands listed who are redlinks. - FrancisTyers · 22:48, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I solemnly hereby declare this page outside the realm of WP:MUSIC, and woe to anyone who dares to speak the term "notability" here again, or I'll replace every song you've kindly posted with A-Teens' latest hit! ;) Phaedriel ♥ The Wiki Soundtrack!♪ - 22:52, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, besides this is in username space, WP:Music who?. :) KOS | talk 22:57, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
