Frederico Chaves Guedes, nicknamed Fred (born october 3, 1983 in Teofilo Otoni), is a football player from Brazil. He plays as a striker for Olympique Lyonnais and the Brazilian national team. He is married and has a daughter named Giovanna (born March 8, 2006)

Clubs

Fred scored 40 goals during 43 appearances in 2005 with Cruzeiro.

He scored the fastest goal ever in Brazilian football, while playing for América Futebol Clube (MG), against Vila Nova Futebol Clube during a Copa São Paulo de Juniores match. The goal was scored 3.17 seconds after the match started.

He currently plays in the French Ligue 1 championship with Olympique Lyonnais, the five-time defending Ligue 1 French champions.

National team

Fred was named in the 2006 FIFA World Cup squad as a striker. His first World Cup goal was the second in a 2-0 victory against Australia on 18 June 2006, when he tapped in a shot from Robinho which had rebounded off the inside of Mark Schwarzer's near post in the 90th minute. Prior to the 2006 World Cup he had scored 2 goals in 3 appearances for Brazil.
