It is organized trained, administered, and supplied under the deirection of the Commandant of the US Coast Guard thru the Director of the Reserves. The reserve provides highly trained and well qualified personnel available for active duty in time of war and national emergency, and as needed. Its personnel are trained to perform the gamut of operations as performed by regular coast guard personnel. They undertake one weekend drill a month and may perform up to 30 days active duty a year.
