Monastery of San Vicente de Oviedo

In november 25th, 781 was founded the Church of San Vicente by Máximo y Fromestano dedicated to Saint Vicente a deacon and a martyr from Valencia, it was the first construction in Oviedo. Máximo y Fromestano are considered the founders of Oviedo. Later this Church was transformed in a Monastery accepted the Benito's Rule and was constituted by twenty six inhabitants.

The style of the construction is Romanesque and was reconstructed in the centuries XI and XII. It have a Benedictine cloister declared National Historic-Artistic Monument.
