Sailor Lead Crow is the third of the Sailor Animamates to appear in both the manga and the final season of Sailor Moon. She and her fellow Animamates have been tasked by Galaxia to collect "true starseeds" of senshi to enable Galaxia rule the universe. She takes a human identity, Akane Karasuma, when stalking her chosen victims. Template:Spoilers

Her senshi name, which maintains the metallic theme of the Animates, is a bilingual pun, playing on the Japanese versus English pronunciation -- "Lead Crow" can also be pronounced "Red Crow", reflecting both her "Earth name" and her costume. Her pseudonym, Akane Karasuma, plays off this, as "Karasuma" is from "karasu", meaning "crow" [1]; and "Akane" means "red", more specifically "madder red" (madder being a plant-based dye and somewhat towards the warm or brown end of the spectrum).

She appeared in the Seramyu musical Ryuusei Densetsu (original and revised versions) as part of the "Dancing Animamates" group, using the name Manila Karasu.

In the manga, Lead Crow first appears in Act 45 at Rei Hino's temple to confront her fellow Coronians, Phobos and Deimos [2] — who are actually the guardians of the Princess of Mars and senshi themselves. Using Galactica Tornado, she succeeds in stealing their starseeds as well as those of Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars before Sailor Moon destroys her with her Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss attack. It is revealed that Sailor Lead Crow killed the Sailor Senshi of her home planet, Coronis.

In the anime, Lead Crow was voiced by Chiharu Suzuka and made her appearance in Episode 182 as a partner of Aluminum Siren's. Lead Crow is said to be the leader of the Animamates. She calls her partner Alumnium Siren her "greatest rival"; however, after Aluminum Siren was killed, Lead Crow's true feelings were revealed. She had to partner with Tin Nyanko for the same starseeds and was then killed by her own trap in Episode 193 when Tin Nyanko sabotages Lead Crow's efforts.
