Mt Albert Train Station is located on the Western Line of the Auckland Railway Network. It is located near Unitec, a local teritary education provider, thus it is a popular train station for Unitec students.

History

  • 1880: The station opened as one of the original stations on the North Auckland Line.[1]
  • 1908: A signal box was built at this station.[1]
  • 1909: A new station building was built, after the previous one was destroyed by fire.[1]
  • 1920's: The branch from this station to the Mt Albert Quarry was closed.[1]
  • 1966: The line was double-tracked and many of the station's infrastructure (including the signal box) was removed. The signal box is now preserved at MOTAT.[1]

This station has a number of bus routes passing it, allowing passengers to easily transfer to bus services. The following is a list of bus services passing this station:-

  • North-bound Buses via New North Road
    • 210-212 to Midtown
    • 223-224 to Midtown via St Lukes
  • South-bound Buses via New North Road
    • 210 to Avondale (selected services only, see note)
    • 211 to Avondale and Rosebank Road
    • 212 to Avondale, Rosebank Road and Patiki Road
    • 223 to Avondale and New Lynn
    • 224 to Avondale, New Lynn and Henderson
  • West-bound Buses via Carrington Road
    • 007 to Pt Chevalier
    • 010 to Ponsonby via Pt Chevalier
    • 043 to Downtown via Pt Chevalier
  • East-bound Buses via Mt Albert Road
    • 007 to St Lukes and St Heliers
    • 010 to Onehunga

Note: Some route 210 services terminates at Mt Albert, and does not continue to Avondale.
