Langtry, Henry Renown English war hero who served as a Colonel with the 3rd Dragoon Guards in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868, and was present at the storming and capture of Magdala (Medal). Served with the 15th Hussars in the Candahar Column in the Afghan war of 1878-80, including the advance to khelat-i-Ghilzai; commanded a detached squadron of his Regiment at the affair in the Ghlo Pass, 4th January 1879; also served with the Thull-Chotiali Field Force under Brigadier General Biddulph, and accompanied Major General Phayre in his march to Candahar (Medal).

Colonel H. Langtry also served in the Boer war of 1881 with the 15th Hussars. (d.1892 Portsea, Hampshire)
