A 1995 BMW 318ti

The BMW E36 automobile platform was the basis for the 1992 through 1998 3-series of automobiles. It replaced the BMW E30 in 1992 and was replaced by the BMW E46 in 1999.

It was during the E36 that BMW attempted to bring an entry level BMW to market, in the form of the 318ti, using the M44B19 engine, the 318ti was a 1.8li 138hp hatchback that had a sticker price (in 1995) of about $23,000. Unfortunately the 318ti was never really receptive to US buyers and the model type was discontinued when BMW went to the E46 platform.
