Overview

The Supremes '75 was the first studio album by The Supremes in almost three years and featured original group member Mary Wilson, returning Supreme Cindy Birdsong and new lead vocalist Scherrie Payne. The Supremes had undergone a major shake-up in their line-up in October 1973 when both lead vocalist Jean Terrell and group member Lynda Laurence tendered their resignation from both Motown and The Supremes. Founding member and sole remaining original Supreme Mary Wilson recruited the ever propular and dependable Cindy Birdsong to replace Lynda Laurence and following a telephone call to Lamont Dozier pretty and petite Scherrie Payne, sister to Freda Payne. The new line-up of The Supremes didn't venture into the recording studio until autumn 1974 due to contractual difficulties and delays.
