Tony Currie (born January 1st, 1950) Edgware, London was a notable Sheffield United F.C. football player. Began his career at Watford and was transferred in February, 1968 to Sheffield United for whom he made 313 appearances and scored 55 goals as a midfield player.

At Bramall Lane, he became an established England international, winning the first of 17 caps and played in the dramatic [World Cup]] qualifier at Wembley in 1973 against Poland which England dominated , but could only draw 1-1.

He was transferred to rivals Leeds United in June, 1976 and later to [Queen's Park Rangers]], captaining them to the 1982 F.A. Cup Final

His career finished in 1985 at Torquay United after a serious knee injury.
