Trzcianka
Trzcianka is a town in Greater Poland, in Poland. From 1999 it belonged to Wielkopolska Province and Czarnkow-Trzcianka County. Previously in Pila Voivodship (1975-1998). It has 17,500 inhabitants. From 1772 to 1945 it was in Prussian borders, with the name Schoenlanke.
There is mention of Trzcianka in a document dating from 1245. In this year the Polish king Boleslaw Wstydliwy gave to Sedziwoj of Czarnkow the land in the valley of Notec river. There were three villages: Biala, Gulcz, and Rozdrozka. Probably, just Rodrozka was placed where today there is Trzcianka. The new name was Trzciana Laka. Then in the 17th century the name was changed to Trzcionka. After the first partition of Poland, the new name of the town was the German Schoenlanke. By 27 January 1945 Trzcianka was again in Polish borders.
