Wikipedia:Proposed article mergers
This page is an incomplete list of proposed mergers. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and it does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here.
Guidelines
In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.
- If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.
- Category mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- For a complete list of articles with current merger proposals, please see Category:Articles to be merged.
- If you need help with renaming or moving, consult Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page.
- For guidance on merging, consult the Integration WikiProject.

- Merge Self-cannibalism to Autophagy as both are quite similar, and even listed as synonyms in either article. Trappleton 08:38, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Fatal_Fake to Fatal/Fake as both are about the same game.
- Merge Ekalavyan to Eklavya as both are same. --Kaushal mehta 15:15, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Gay science fiction with Lesbian science fiction to eliminate redudant discussion, to ensure that both topics are equally well developed, and because they really need to be discussed in the context of one another.
- Merge Apostolic Vicariate of Arabia with Vicariate Apostolic of Arabia, same entity, different word order in the title. Gentgeen 22:01, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Victoria Osteen with Joel Osteen; husband and wife clergy team, with Victoria possibly not meeting notability requirements on her own. Badbilltucker 14:59, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Makoto Hyuga with List of characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion as the information should be incorporated into the main characters article. Ctiptonk 20:48, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Shotley Run with Otley Run as the Shotley run is just a variation of the latter and the single sentance in the Shotley article could easily be incorporated into the Otley Run article. --Wrh1973 16:31, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Ubuntu_Women with Ubuntu_Linux as UW is a project under Ubuntu. User:Svaksha and User:Burgundavia 15:09, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Prithviraj_Chauhan with Prithviraj III as both are the same.Kaushal mehta 08:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge German Tamilology with Tamilology because a separate page is unnecessary. Lawilkin 20:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Motivations for contributing to online communities into Virtual community. 65.96.180.86 16:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Hezbollah rocket campaign in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict and Israeli military action in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict into Military operations of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict--Cerejota 07:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

- Merge I'm from Barcelona into I'm From Barcelona (band). Mediamelt 20:11, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

- Merge both Air Crash Investigation and Crash Scene Investigation into Mayday (TV series) (currently redirect to first article). The series is known as such by the production company Cineflix [1] and in Canada, where the series is produced. kelvSYC 03:52, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Circle Me, Bert into Bert Blyleven. This is a meme based on Bert Blyleven's circling a fan in the stands during a Minnesota Twins game. It is mentioned in the Blyleven article, and I don't think it merits an article of its own. It has been a tiny stub for more than two years, and there is very little room for expansion without copious amounts of original research. Kafziel 03:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Westfield Bondi Junction,Westfield Burwood,Westfield Eastgardens,Westfield Hornsby,Westfield Hurstville,Westfield Miranda,Westfield Mount Druitt,Westfield Parramatta,Westfield Penrith, all into Westfields Shopping Centres in Australia. Individually these shopping centres are non-notable. Collectively they are an identifiable element of Retailing in Australia, and whilst they are notable within their own small community each could easily be a single section on a suburb/town page, and a similar single section on the proposed page Westfields Shopping Centres in Australia. Each current page contains very similiar lists of stores / outlets which are difficult to maintain as current. --Garrie 23:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge History of anarchism with Anarchism/historical and Origins of anarchism; this merge is likely to be controversial, in part because the NPOV is questioned on at least one of the articles. All three of the articles seem to address the same topic from different perspectives but with significant duplication of effort. --Vampyrecat 17:38, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Inhibited sexual desire with Sexual arousal disorder, or at least explain what how those two can be differentiated. --Abdull 13:03, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Lake Chagan into Chagan (nuclear test). The lake exists and is known only because of the test. The lake's identity is thus inseparable from the test. Because of the test, the lake is too radioactive to become known for anything else (diving, anyone?) and is thus unlikely to get a separate identity. Current content greatly overlaps. --Thatnewguy 05:26, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Object Subject Verb with Object Agent Verb; merge Object Verb Subject with Object Verb Agent. I cannot see the difference between the two, and somebody deliberately copy back the contents from ASV and AVS back to OSV and OVS as an opposition to the moving. As a result, the articles diverged. If there was any discussion about the moving, they shall appear in somewhere of the discussion pages of the articles. In additional, somebody shall tell the readers about the different between the two. -- Tomchiukc 04:28, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge MAIBTYBILP into Internet_Slang. The acronym does not need its own article. --Shaymus22 03:00, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Kira Aso and Rei Kashino into Mars (manga). The amount of information on each character does not seem to be sufficient for a separate page. Shikan 05:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Emil Dechebal Matasareanu into North Hollywood shootout. It has a subset of the info, and no biographical info. 70.66.9.162 10:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Long Beach Jam into Bakersfield Jam. --MC Snowy 21:22, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge John Latouche and John Treville Latouche. There are some disagreements (such as date and place of birth) where it is not clear which is correct. But it's obvious that both refer to the same person. -- BRG 14:47, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Alpine Front into Italian Campaign (World War I). The second seem to cover the front itself and is more detailed --84.0.231.8 13:13, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Ixbalanque and Hun-Apu into Maya Hero Twins --82.141.92.147 02:31, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Acxiom into Acxiom Corporation. -- Psikic 02:28, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Ectopic Shapeshifting Penance-propulsion into De-loused in the comatorium. Zopwx2 20:38, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Non-profit organization, Non-governmental organization, and Private voluntary organization. The distinction between these is so subtle that it should be a section on a merged page, not separate pages. David Bornstein in Massive Change claims they refer to the same thing. Vagary 19:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge dystrophy, muscle atrophy and muscle weakness. The terms are related, and the articles all quite short, especially the first, since details for specific variations are found on other pages. --nkayesmith 02:06, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Capillarity into Capillary action - seems to be just another name for the same thing. Ozhiker 11:34, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

- Merge List of Charmed family and friends into Charmed
- Merge Image server and Dynamic imaging 66.17.213.2 20:01, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Big-game hunter with Hunting. Ratarsed 09:58, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Residual sum of squares, Sum of squares, and Total sum of squares into Least squares. You might consider combining them with Regression analysis, but RA can be performed with methods other than least squares. --DanielPenfield 00:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Brooke Brodack and Emmalina among others into a single article perhaps named "Famous YouTube Celebrities". ADF's have failed for those pages because people believe they are notable, however there really isnt' a reason to keep them seperate as neither have really enough information to warrent individual pages. There are many other 'famous' users that have been talked about that do not have a page dedicated to them yet. --Bschott 17:24, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Camera tracking into Match moving. They're basically part of one another/the same. The softwares used to do both are the same. One area in Match Moving is tracking the position of the camera besides motion capture etc... Feureau 18:48, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Killingworth with Killingworth Village. They appear to be about the same place, so there doesn't need to be two different articles. Discuss at Talk:Killingworth. -Royalguard11Talk 18:17, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge La Presa, California into Spring Valley, California. The two articles are currently about two different census-designated places (CDPs). However, the community of Spring valley officially includes the La Presa CDP. This means that the article about Spring Valley only covers half of the area officially called Spring Valley. Rsduhamel 00:40, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Winter Gardens, California into Lakeside, California. The two articles are currently about two different census-designated places (CDPs). - Merge Convex lens and Concave lens into Curved lens similar to how Convex mirror and Concave mirror redirect to Curved mirror 24.13.222.28 02:07, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- This was a really bad idea. See talk:curved lens.--Srleffler 18:18, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Je t'adore and Je t'Adore, same song. RadioActive 21:48, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Okiku into Bancho Sarayashiki. Okiku is a character in Bancho Sarayashiki, but there is not enough individual information on the character to warrent an individual page. Everything contained on the Okiku page is duplicated on the Bancho Sarayashiki page, but in more detail. MightyAtom 12:57, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Italus and Italos. Seem to refer to same (semi-mythical) person, a user has placed the alternative in brackets on all relevant pages. I tagged these pages for merger last week, and no-one has commented one way or the other. I would do it myself, but I'm not sure which would be best to have the article under going forward, so I wanted to open it up for more discussion. David Underdown 12:38, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Beaver (band) and 13eaver - same band (Beaver is correct. Kidvicious 03:43, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Foursquare with Foursquare house as they are talking about the exact same thing. the illustration on Foursquare should probably be replaced, as it's not really a good example of the style. 74.135.213.61 19:35, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Redirected and cleanup to Foursquare house. I didn't keep the illustration, it's not too good. Teke 18:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Courage the Dog with Courage the Cowardly Dog and or List of Courage the Cowardly Dog characters as the stub article is completely duplicative of the more substantial articles. Bdelisle 07:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Duplicate article redirected. Teke 18:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Diamond of Death to diamond problem. I wrote the first article without realising we already had an article about it. JIP | Talk 16:48, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer into EverQuest II. Does an expension pack (one that even doesn't excist at the moment!) really need a page of it's own? Gnorn 19:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge List of cults into List of new religious movements. Concerning POV problems in List of Cults, which have largely been avoided in List of New Religious Movements. 80.189.75.153 18:43, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Wonder weapons with Wunderwaffe. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vic Fontaine (talk • contribs) 10:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC).
- Merge List_of_world's_largest_lakes with Lakes. The list itself definitely does not qualify as an article in and of itself. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hulces (talk • contribs) 06:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC).

- Merge Znaju Ja (single) with Znaju Ja. The articles are entirely identical except for a semantic difference in their subjects: Znaju Ja is about a song, Znaju Ja (single) is about a single CD that it appears on. Also the articles could do with a clean-up, it looks like they're written by Ruslana herself, or more likely, her agent. JIP | Talk 08:54, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge North Peru and South Peru into Peru-Bolivian Confederation. The first two articles seems to be almost copies of each other, and would fit well in the context of the article on the Peru-Bolivian Confederation.. --Mr Minchin 18:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge at least most of Syndactyly into Dactyly. The former reads as if it should be at the latter title (it starts "In zoology, dactyly is...") and has lots of interesting information that is not relevant to the concept of syntactyly itself. Hairy Dude 18:26, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Mii (now a mere redirection to Jungle de Ikou!, an anime in which Mii is a character) with MII Disabiguation page. The redirection is quite confusing - Ppchailley 14:56, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Politicians of Croatian ancestry, Foreign Croatian Politicians, and World Politicians of Croatian ancestry, These three pages appear to be virtual duplicates of each other. --TommyBoy 19:27, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- The List of Irish playwrights may be merged into the somewhat better developed List of Irish dramatists. Many names on both lists are the same and the rest should be combined. While there is more than a semantic difference between a "dramatist" and a "playwright", all the other lists in that category use the word "playwright", so to avoid retitling, an argument can be made for a merge in the other direction. --Romanspinner 05:30, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Template:Infobox Ferry and Template:Infobox Ship, near duplicates. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 22:01, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

- Merge Worcester-Metrowest-Boston Airport and Worcester Regional Airport. Both articles describe the same airport. The destination article should be Worcester-Metrowest-Boston Airport. --Tckma 11:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Environmental design into Sustainable design, writing a new article for the former. Currently, the former is described as synonymous with the latter, which is actually a neologism (albeit a widespread one). An entirely different normantive meaning (also widespread) for "Environmental design" already exists, which is not given any coverage in its current article.Skybum 18:04, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Mental confusion into Delirium since the current Mental confusion article mostly describes specifically delirium rather than confusion in general. Create a new article Confusion (clinical) discussing the clinical sign of confusion and the differentiation between its acute cause (Delirium) and its chronic cause (Dementia).--Lee Collier 06:57, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Condensed matter physics and Solid-state physics, this has been proposed for some time with no conclusion. This is about the article merge not the categories merge. Rex the first talk | contribs 23:56, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

- Hypernova is a very loose term, but it is produced by the much more well-defined object, collapsar. It would be made more obvious that they are the same thing if they were part of the same article (collapsar would be the more sensible choice to keep). Sharkbait784 15:00, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Unholy Passion EP into Unholy Passion -- they're basically the same article - Mattbrundage 18:11, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

- Quarter mile into dragstrip, lots of overlap. Cdh1984 12:35, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Constant random variable and Degenerate distribution describe the exact same thing. Btyner 18:28, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Wikipedians North America and Category:Wikipedians in North America. It makes more sense as a category, and the two are currently not linked in any way. Batshua April 3, 2006
- Ruputer into OnHand PC same products. RadioActive 13:47, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- Voice organ and Phonation. I don't know which way to merge - the latter is the better article but the former is a more familiar term. -- Djbb2 19:31, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Having read Phonation, I think they should either be left seperate or phonation merged into voice organ, as the second includes the first. I'm no expert, though...Djbb2 19:37, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Debutante ball into Debutante. The former article currently describes only one type of debutante ball (the Irish one), while the latter article has details for the tradition in a number of countries. Mgcsinc 22:40, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

- Landau notation and Big O notation. Both articles say they are sometimes called by the other's name. --Abdull 14:40, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Merger proposals presently under debate
- Floral Park Memorial High School, New Hyde Park Memorial High School, Elmont Memorial High School, H. Frank Carey Junior/Senior High School, and Sewanhaka High School are, like most school articles, fairly non-notable and major cruftmagnets; they should be merged into Sewanhaka Central High School District. Paul 19:18, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- Framing (communication theory) and Framing (psychology) should probably be merged; there was already a corresponding proposal on the talk pages, but apparently no-one felt competent to carry it out. Loaded language should also be considered, as it appears to be pretty much the same thing. The discussion is at Talk:Framing (communication theory). Joriki 06:47, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Binion's Horseshoe and Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel. The same casino, just under different ownership. A section detailing the history and current status in one article should suffice. ⇔ EntChickie 04:19, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

- Redirect and Protect Sidhoji Rao Shitole to Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath. No need to merge, as YGS already has the same content plus some. Rationale: According the WP:Manual of Style for biographies, the article should go to the name by which the subject is most commonly known (Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath according to 2580 Ghits). The given-name article (20 Ghits) was up for AfD, but Stifle (talk · contribs) closed it [5] in order to resolve this issue here. -- Hamsacharya dan 00:50, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - there is currently a concensus that Sidhoji Rao Shitole should be moved to replace Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath in order in end a content dispute. The requested move survey results can be found at Talk:Sidhoji Rao Shitole#Requested move. Hamsacharya dan has repeatedly tried to override concensus and even moderation as documented at Requests_for_comment/Hamsacharya_dan. Please implement the concensus. —Hanuman Das 15:18, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- There seems to be a case to be made for merging Workplace bullying into Bully--Zeraeph 20:27, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Institute for Religion and Democracy into Institute on Religion and Democracy same think tank. --Rtc 15:08, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Depersonalization disorder into Depersonalization—they both describe the same disorder in slighly different ways. They could possibly be made more separate, but each has so little content that I'm in favor of merging them. --Tifego 04:47, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- List of lifestyles into List of subcultures. Quite a lot of overlap here. Kevinmooney 01:27, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Pro-life into Anti-abortion, then turn pro-life into a redirect to anti-abortion. The latter is more accurate and NPOV. I am also requesting that Pro-choice be moved to Pro-abortion. --Cyde Weys votetalk 19:43, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- Seems iffy, but I think it could work. If possible, I'd like to assist with the categorization. -ZeroTalk 18:29, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Not workable. All four terms mean different things. Not every "pro-choice" person is "pro-abortion". Not every "anti-abortion" person agrees with the political aims of "Pro-Life" campaigners. The terms all have different nuances. "Pro-choice" and "Pro-life" are political stances based on a set of values, often based on secular versus religious beliefs. "Pro-Abortion" and "Anti-abortion" refer to stances on a specific issue. Holding pro- or anti- views on abortion doesn't necessarily mean one is attached to or even supportive of the political campaigns and perspectives underlying the "Pro-choice" and "Pro-life" tags. - Shouldn't all the lawsuits on the Lowell page be on the San Francisco Unified School District page instead, since they're NAACP v. San Francisco Unified School District, Ho v. San Francisco Unified School District, and the Consent Decree applies to ALL schools in the San Francisco Unified School District, not just Lowell? --69.106.248.138 18:09, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Foreign relations between Japan and China & Sino-Japanese relations: I've unmerged these two because the previous merge was a simple copy-&-paste job, with no consideration of the content (How can the "Concluding Remarks" be in the middle and above the Table of Contents ?). Need someone familiar with the topic to incorporate the materials into one article that flows properly. -- PFHLai 14:29, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
