Nick Fury: Spider-Man: The Animated Series
Nick Fury in Spider-Man: The Animated Series
Nick Fury appeared in Spider-Man: The Animated Series and appeared in a few episodes, most notably the first hero guest star to ever appear in the series.
Day of the Chameleon
Day of the Chameleon was the first season finale to Spider-Man: The Animated Series and marks the first appearance of Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. His mission was to have a terrorist known as the Chameleon taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. He took J. Jonah Jameson and got him to S.H.I.E.L.D., asking him to help defeat the Chameleon. Spider-Man got involved secretly and had the Chameleon taken into jail eventually. After this event, Fury was the first person to ever thank Spider-Man for his success.
The Black Cat Two-Part Episode
It is revealed in the second episode of the fourth season of Spider-Man that John Hardesky, Felicia Hardy's father, was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody for two reasons. One: Back then, Hardesky was a cat burgular named the Cat. And two (which was the most important reason): Hardesky knew about the secret formula that created Captain America and if this secret would fall into the wrong hands, Hardesky and Fury knew, then it would be chaos to the world. Unfortunately, thanks to the Chameleon, Hardesky was abducted by the Kingpin's forces and when Dr. Octopus kidnapped Felicia Hardy, Hardesky was blackmailed to give away the formula or Felicia would die while the Chameleon immitated Hardesky, having Fury realize that they were having the Chameleon all along and Hardesky was gone. Fury then guessed that Spider-Man was involved in this and sent S.H.I.E.L.D. agents take him down. After Felicia was turned into the Black Cat, Spider-Man and the Black Cat escaped the agents and Hardesky destroyed the formula, thus, with the help of Spider-Man, was taken back to S.H.I.E.L.D. with Fury realizing that Spider-Man had been involved with Hardesky going back to jail.
Six Forgotten Warriors
Fury's last appearance was in the five-part Six Forgotten Warriors episode, but only appeared in the first and last episodes of the saga. In the first episode, Fury called Keane Marlow, an old man, out of retirement to get the passports of the deceased Richard and Mary Parker. Fury believed that Richard and Mary were traitors to Russia, but in the second episode of the saga, despite not appearing in it, Peter Parker, son of Richard and Mary (and secretly from Fury, alter-ego of Spider-Man) that Richard and May were actually good spies.
In the last episode of the saga, when Electro was taking control of the world's energy supply, S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to attack but Electro grew so powerful that he actually destroyed the base! Luckily, the agents, including Fury, escaped the destruction and he grieved on the destruction ever since.
Spider-Man Unlimited
In the sequel show to Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, Fury made a cameo appearance in the show and in the first episode, too. When Spider-Man was accused for the seeming death of John Jameson and Fury caught Spider-Man going into outer space, Spider-Man explained he was going to Counter-Earth, the same place where John went as everyone else knows and presumably died there, to find out what happened to John. Fury believed him and let him go. It is unknown if Fury had S.H.I.E.L.D. repaired since Electro destroyed it but since he is here instead of letting one of his agents look for Spider-Man, it confirms he is a regular vigilante.
