Error

I don't have time to fix it just now, but there's an error in the 'Popularity' section. The pieces in quotes are actually from an article on anime.com; they're not fan references. -Litefantastic 15:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wake up! Wake up everybody!

Trying not to sound too blunt: this article is beginning to come apart at the seams. It gets half a dozen edits a day, and still it seems to be going downhill? Where did all the cornerstone players go? Where did the pictures go? We have to get to work - I will see this a featured article someday! -Litefantastic 17:42, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm available to help; let me know what is needed/how to do and we can get back on track! DJLon 03:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Despite all these revisions, nobody caught the inconsistency in the storyline under the Criticism section! Kikyou was brought back to life in episode 151 and so her story was never resolved. If the article is going to refer to "recent" plots (or any part of the plot at all,) there needs to be a date, or better yet, an episode number in order to indicate how recent (of course, the television series has ended now.) 202.61.229.85 20:40, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is InuYasha for girls or boys??

For space reasons, the lengthy post previously contained here can be found at /2006-A -Litefantastic 00:29, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that inuyasha is a show both for female and male viewer being its romantic side atracts the female viewers while the action side atracts the male veiwers plus the comedy is loved by both male and female viewers its a great show altogether!

I've always seen it as being Shōjo, or aimed at females. If for no other reason, I think the theme of feminist escapism (i.e., the main character being a normal girl transported to a fantastic place) suggests this in much the same way as it does in Alice in Wonderland. Metalrobot 11:01, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it makes sense as both shonen and shojo (sorry, can't do accents on this comp >,<). ~Sushi 23:10, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Profanity

Someone deleted most of the page to place some profanity in its place. I quickly changed it from that text. However, the page appears lost. It would be best is someone could restore it. 20:56, 8 June 2006 (EST)

Obviously it's for girls, because VGcats says so. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by VodkaJazz (talkcontribs) .

Then if its for girls why is Inuyasha a Shōnen anime/manga??????? (70.113.5.108 17:39, 11 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Movie title spelling

It appears that the spelling InuYasha has been agreed upon, yet the movie titles use Inuyasha. For consistancy, I'd suggest changing the movie titles. –RHolton02:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I changed them to camelcaps on the Inuyasha media and release information page but don't know how to change an article title. DJLon 03:44, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

External links: Unofficial sites

What should be included here? I've been watching this for a while and the links changes constantly. IMHO I'm not impressed with the current offering. DJLon 19:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In fact now that I look at it some more...sites for merchandise? DJLon 19:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Deletion

Before you jump and think Inu Yusha is up for deletion, it isnt. Kiddy Grade is, but unfortunately the discussion has started to critise this article too. And in order to delete the Kiddy Grade articles they would have to do the same here. It is of note because, obviously, you don't want that to happen.

This is quote from one of the people: "I don't want to be rude and please don't take this is gnawing the newbies or assuming ill intentions of an editor. I don't, it's not the editor, it's the culture. But there has been a pervasive explosion of these character articles in Anime articles. They contain little chunks of information, but only seem to exist to hold an image and an infobox on the character and to fill out a character navagation template... I have half a mind to say delete the lot of them and start from scratch .. but I'd only push for that if we could throw in the similarly formatted character articles from OMG, IY, and Tenchi as well. They were all created in the same manner, and it's not well suited to the wikipedia. First off, they contain way too many pictures and (some of them) seem to only exist because an infobox was able to be created for the article. But, I will not be mean to the information and I will push for a SUPER speedy merge These articles fall under the auspices of the WP:FICTION which give a wonderful steps on how to create such pages. Also, a aticle like Eclair and Lumiere (Kiddy Grade) contains WAY too many photos and is a definite violation of the fair use policy. It needs a lot of trimming regardless of the outcome of this debate. I would vote to Delete the Kiddy Grade Infobox and navigation templates, if I could."

The discussion is here

WP:POINT. I was being sarcastic. If you actually read what I wrote, I suggest that we merge articles in accordance with wikipedia style guidelines. i.e. WP:FICTION. I've contriubted to most of the individual IY character articles. --Kunzite 03:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Major cleanup

This article (and most InuYasha articles) need a major cleanup, if not an overhaul. List of what's needed:

  • The criticism and popularity sections need to be cited, or completely removed. Actually, if cited, the two should be reduced and merged together under "Reception".
  • The overview is far too long, most of it should be made into plot of InuYasha. Done. It now needs a cleanup.
  • There should be 1 fanpage link at most. I've removed all unofficial pages for now. If anyone has a website to suggest to use, reply here. It should be notable at the least, of course.
  • The InuYasha character template (used at bottom) should instead be a general InuYasha template, like Naruto has. The new template is {{InuyashaInfo}}. Needs a cleanup sometime (it shouldn't link to anchors for one).
  • Many (if not most) of the InuYasha pages need a cleanup. Take this change for example[1], where you can see the bottom edit was changing the stub tag. This edit still existed today from such an old edit. This is probably going to be the biggest part to do. Also, a lot of pages have way too much details on them and some should be moved to Wikibooks.
  • Pages linking to Inuyasha (instead of InuYasha) which should be fixed. I will be using WP:AWB to do this (not a priority).
  • The introduction paragraph should be longer (explain what the basic plot a little etc).
  • Pages that need to be created (and merged from existing pages): List of InuYasha video games Eh, maybe they should just remain on media. There aren't many IY video games.
  • I don't even know what to do with Clothing in a historical context.
67.161.135.133 deleted this as of 06:06, August 19, 2006, was this supposed to occur? DJLon 23:57, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, read their comment below. It was moved. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 00:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not there, that's why I asked. DJLon 00:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • See the peer review and FAC comments for more details.[2] [3]

That's just to start. Take a look at Naruto, while it may not be the best it's certainly something to follow while cleaning up. I will assist when I have the time. Argh, and now 206.255.24.180 has gone and changed Sesshomaru's name all over the place without discussing it first.

I'm considering watching every InuYasha page, making that my sole purpose here but I find it hard when I have hardly any help. I asked this a question on Talk:Jewel of Four Souls about a fact a long time ago, and have yet to get a reply. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 05:59, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the "front page" article is becoming more wiki-mainstream. as the author of "clothing" may I suggest the following: make a new sub-heading titled "InuYasha: Historical Context" under either the bottom nav box along with "plot", "Characters", "Places" or under "see Also". Then PLace "Clothing" under that page. This would quickly clean up the main page, and yet allow further expansion of historical aspects (ie: a discussion of the encounter with Nobunaga alone could fill a page - esp "why" Oda Nobunaga was called "a fool"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.18.101.5 (talkcontribs)
I moved "clothing to the "InuYasha Character" page, as it fits better there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.135.133 (talkcontribs)
I'm working on fixing all articles refering to "Inuyasha" to "InuYasha" as I type this. --Ampersand2006 18:04, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually as I mentioned on your talk page, I have WP:AWB to use for this now. So no need to do it manually. :) --Zeno McDohl (talk) 18:11, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay :) I already did 16. --Ampersand2006 18:13, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Names

Please do not change character/item names spelling or casing without first discussing. Thanks. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 18:37, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, we need to decide on a naming convention. I'm going to suggest to use all names/spellings from the Viz English manga. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 06:30, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We already did that - except, of course, for Tessaiga WhisperToMe 17:30, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I figured that. Where is it located? I'd like to know the consensus result so I know if I should be certain reverting name changes. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 20:19, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It should be linked from Talk:Tessaiga - If you want, you can read the discussion, and then, if you wish to revive the discussion again, do so. I disagreed with the move to Tessaiga, by the way. WhisperToMe 01:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article tags

I've marked a number of statements and whole paragraphs which could use references. There where at least three areas that I identified as original research and should either be rewritten using reliable sources or removed. The Criticism section needs to be completely rewritten to remove all use of weasel words. The same goes for the first sentence in the Artwork quality section, which also uses a weasel word. And finally, I find the Popularity section to be far to US and Canadian centric. Why does US/Canadian popularity gets 3 to 4 large paraphrase, Japan gets 1 small paragraph and everyone else is smashed into one tiny paragraph, the latter two appearing to be tacked on as an afterthought? It should be much less focused on US/Canadian popularity and much more attention should be paid to popularity in other countries, especally Japan. --TheFarix (Talk) 02:09, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and when you do give a citation, use one of the citation templates. --TheFarix (Talk) 02:41, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Popularity

I removed the entire section. It was all POV and original research. If you can find a way to rewrite it so it doesn't sound like some random inuyasha fan wrote it, then be my guest. dposse 17:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism section seems to be the same way. I had suggested above to merge (if they ended up being cited) the two, but it looks like they won't be cited. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 17:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This entire article could do with a rewrite. Right now, we're gutting the body of the article because inuyasha fans decided to go crazy on this article. This is going to need alot of work. dposse 18:07, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I hate to see both sections go. But since neither of them could be salvageable, well... that's the way that cookie crumbles. Anyways, the section on artwork quality could be expanded to form a Critical reception section. --TheFarix (Talk) 19:39, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
